So around £16.5k!! I'm not really sure what to think about that?? Apart from being issued is a MN snowflake any different to the standard snowflake from the same year?

Just had a mosey over and the dads and lads have really got me. As if buying yourself something wasn't an expensive enough habit and they do that ? Trouble also in that i have two sons...

Isn't the only real difference a military engraving on the case back?

The dads and lads offer is a pretty good price from a dealer IMO.

Yeah that's what I thought. It's not like a Rolex Milsub with it's unique fixed bars Trillium sword hands with the "T" on the dial the full integrated bezel. Is the fact that its issued make it worth £13K more than the same watch without engraving?

    Not to me personally lol

But I guess it did to the person that bought it today!

I am pretty much a novice at this and they appeared that way to me too. Unfortunately a new av cinema get up, christmas and a tudor grantour bought in november have kanckered any chance. I'd have to buy another as well,as he'll tell his brother,
and you can't give one without the other, as Frank Sinatra almost sang.

it's a good offer imo - just lacking the young lad at the moment so I'm out of the race.

Also would prefer a nice 7928 or 5513 instead

That's correct, bear in mind though that these watches are quite difficult to get. 4-5 years back those were already at 10-12K€ and at that times you could get a standard snowflake for 1,5-2,5K€ max. So all is relative

5513 would be wonderful and even less likely to be achievable for me would be a 1680 . The kids inheritance on my wrist, a man can dream though.

got a 1680 full set from first owner - plus month&year of birth as added bonus.
the issue is that it's too nice to be worn actually, as it would be absolutely impossible to replace

however 1680s (excluding the red subs) are not that much in demand these days where 5513/1675s seem to be the flavour of the month/year

Wow, my grail right there. Have idly passed an hour or day gawping at the year/month combo and would dearly love one. As you say though i'd probably wear it in the house, far too beautiful to risk anything untoward happening.

    Lovely.

There's a fine example with my year/month on
Chrono24 and barring a lottery win that's where it'll stay as far as i'm concerned.

    Lovely example that. Congrats!

I don't know why the top hat 1680 doesn't get more love in the vintage world.

So now finding out that a MN '79 Tudor when for sale this week for €22k (£16.5k) what the hell is this collection of milsubs worth?? He has a collection of 13 Tudor and Rolex milsubs with some pretty impressive serial number as ref numbers, along with all decommission papers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx-7wgMAjF0

They are all very nice. Really jealous.

I thought the new Black Bay Black was based on an old model. I must be mistaken as I didn't notice any large crowns in the pics.

They are indeed. The thing about these oldies is, that they're scarce as hen's teeth. You can find some info on a 7924 Big Crown here: http://www.fratellowatches.com/tudor...ig-crown-1958/

Bought my first Rolex submariner in 1984, wish id bought a Tudor equivalent instead, just a bit less common.

Don't have a Tudor or a Rolex but hoping to buy a Tudor this year for a big birthday. I've never been a fan of Mercedes hands so the fact there's an alternative with the Tudor puts it massively in favour for me.

The first "expensive" watch i remember being aware of was my Dad's Tudor so they have always held an appeal to me. Despite that i've always been the sort of weirdo that preferred the less mainstream alternatives in most things.

I've had a few. Sold these two, I couldn't get along with the date function. I still have the no date snowflake though and would love to add a blue snowflake or no date lollipop.

Every bit as nice as a vintage Rolex sub.

Had a fair few when they were cheap(er).

Nice to see the love for the Tudors. Got this after a long time looking. Feeling quite jealous of the lovely faded bezels others have but they are surprisingly expensive to buy on their own. Guess I'll have to keep this one till it fades...
