    Tudor Sub love......

Ok so there seems to be a lot of love for the vintage Rolex Sub at the moment, and to be fair it's totally justified, the Sub is an amazing watch that seems to get better with age. So what about the Tudor Sub? I've owned this 76100 1984 lollipop for around 5 years now and I have never got bored of it, in fact like its bigger brother it seems to get better with age. I know a lot of people will down the Tudor and I know others will argue that it is the poor mans Rolex, but the Tudor gave a lot more choice in Snowflake and lollipop hands as well as the standard Mercedes hands. Also the Tudor was available in blue dial as well as the black. So who is going to join me in giving the Tudor Sub some love?

I was admiring my friends Tudor Sub in the pub just yesterday:

Its attractions were very easy to see, lovely low profile.

I don't have one but I wish I did. Ideally the Snowflake but the more modern version would be acceptable too!

What can I say? I am a monumental bell end.

The one on the left is blue, in case you can't tell from the photo.

It took me while to realize I really wanted one of these more than I wanted a 5513.

Did I tell you about when I left mine on a door hook when taking a shower, got dressed and remembered a few hours later that my Tudor Sub was not on my wrist? It wasn't on the door either

Thanks! I was after a 5513 but the prices keep climbing and couldn't find one I liked for the price. Spotted this and jumped on it. Comes with the box too!

Trust me you won't be disappointed. 5513 prices are on the rise but their not as rare as a decent Tudor Sub. This watch is just as much as an investment as a 5513 would be, and it's a pretty good looking watch to boot!!

That's lovely. Private or dealer sale? It's a lovely alternative to the Rolex Sub. I saw 2 Subs in the same room on NYE, prob only 20 people there, half of them men so having that Tudor would be more interesting in watch terms.

Thanks! It's a dealer in the US. Little bit of a punt to be honest as never dealt with him but he's got a good rep.

Bought my '81 76100 from Tudor guru round these 'ere and other parts, Ross P. It's probably not one for the purists, having a service dial, bezel and replacement non-cyclops plastic but I adore the ass off it, even after having to part with £500 nicker for a 78500 bracelet. Best watch I've ever owned and really rather cool.

    7928

I’m always in for some Tudor adoration! Here’s mine, a 7928 from ’63 which has taken some beatings over the years.

    Thats stunning Great pick-up!

I considered a snowflake when purchasing my 5513, was one or t'other and a 5513 to my spec came up before the Tudor and the rest as they say is history.

I do want to try one at some point though so it may be an itch that gets scratched further down the line but I fear that rising prices and availability may mean its one in one out and I just love the simplicity of the 5513 I dont think I want to part with it.

I prefer the Tudor Subs to the Rolex to be honest.

Mine is no where near as nice as most if not all on here but it has a certain charm

Ive just spent a VERY fraught hour trying to find mine
Not in the safe, not in the other usual places, bedside drawer, sock drawer, odds and sods cabinet, sides of the sofa ( although I did find where the kids stash the sweetie wrappers that they filtch from the kitchen ) etc......
Found it in the end ( in a stupid place ) and the relief was pretty amazing.....

    True story bro.......

I should have picked up a Tudor sub years ago, before the prices started rising.

    Really well timed thread.

Just been looking at 5513's but a one owner since new 7928 has cropped up and really caught my eye. Completely unaltered and unrestored but I'm not that well clued up on values of these, any rough suggestions?

It's in used but original condition, no box/papers and hasn't had a service recently.

    Would appreciate any suggestions

    Cheers

Impossible to answer without some photos (at the very least) - what year is it?, what condition is the dial/case/hands?, is it a PCG model, gilt dial? etc etc...

Are you able to get hold of any pictures? Like gmt says it is really impossible to give you any guide price just based on your description.

Wow now that is a little bit special!!! I would imagine the price to be in the region of 3 - 3.5K. Have you been given a price by the seller?
