    Bond's next watch

Has to be a Bremont. Excellent British engineering, connection to the armed forces, looks great too. Better than getting a watch from a conglomerate not that I have anything against the Rolex, Omega or any other watch maker but someone as essentially British as Bond should have a watch with a connection to Britain.

What about a Precista? Bond would look cool with a PRS-82 on a nato.

  3. #3
Bond's watches tend to get destroyed, or used as knuckledusters, so it would be a shame to do that to a Bremont. A Deepsea would probably be the thing - you could do some serious damage with one of those.

If Bremont can't or won't give the same amount of money as Omega does, then I'm afraid Bond won't be wearing a Bremont watch.

Bremont could make a special Bond addition that can be used to punch out the bad guys without breaking.

Bremont could make a special bond edition with some of his hair embedded in the dial somewhere.

The money that the Bond film made in 'product placements' in the last film was an incredible amount - sadly Bremont won't be coughing up the dough required for the next one!

Bremont have no direct link with the forces as far as I know. They are quite a few special project commissions about, however they are are not directly linked with the MOD.

Just figured it was up there with their bits of code-breaking paper. I was joking :)

In all seriousness, It'll be Omega again, but what next? There are only so many teaks to the Omega divers they can make for Bond product placement in films... surely?

Yep, watched this film yesterday, and noticed the Bremont. It was a pretty good film though, thoroughly enjoyed it. As for Bond, I don't think Bremont have quite the same cachet as Omega or Rolex.

Whilst I appreciate the commercially driven choice I wonder whether a 'cheaper' marque wouldn't benefit as much given it could produce a Bond variation which would be affordable to many more than an Omega. A niche British maker would be the ideal choice. Something akin to the prs-82 or even 18 but with a Bond twist and an upmarket movement would be something which would have mass appeal for a change.

I think James Bond films is now more about money than about the quality :(

But PRS-82 would be a good choice: D

they have ONE connection with the AF, which is the RM350th edition. Every other group purchase they've done has been some nasty hackup of a squadron badge to avoid the need to pay a licence fee.

That isn't an official MOD commission though, it's it's still a special projects item.

I can't see that Bremont has the funds, the brand awareness or the international caché to even get a look-in for the next Bond gig. In years to come if/when the company has something other than ETA-powered timepieces and it has been absorbed by LVMH there might be a discussion to be had.

    Giles, is that you?

Surely no one else would say Bremont had a connection to the British armed forces would they?

Rolex and Omega have a history of real issued watches to the British military.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

If it's a case of 'whose marketing department has the biggest budget' Bond will be wearing an apple iwatch, no mistake. He will have to charge it mid-mission, so he will need a choice of straps and colours to show off a different one every time he sips a carlsberg/uses a month blanc pen/nibbles a Jaffa cake or slips a new clip into his Walther!

Oh, don't be so cynical. Look at the facts:

    1) Giles is one of only three traditional first names for officers in the British Army, along with Rupert and Hugh.

    2) Henley on Thames is, again traditionally, the equivalent of Blackpool for anyone called Hugh, Rupert or Giles

That's about it, but how much more do you want?

Actually, I haven't even seen Spectre (not really a massive fan since they became long adverts!) But I'm not really in the market for a pistol here in the UK so any gun related marketing is rather wasted on me!

Of course, there was that story about the MI5 special edition Steelfish's.

By the way, I ain't seen Spectre. Is Omega placement obvious in it?

I'd like to see a Bremont or a Precista but as said, it's never going to happen.

It'll be Onega again or whoever stumps up the most cash for product placement.

Yeah, you're right. I still wonder if Walther, and H&K and Glock for that matter, pay for their appearances or are they outside the product placement stuff?

  48. #48
Surely Omega have. Multi-year deal for product placement. As much as I like my new Bremont, I don't think it's the watch for Bond - he is a Bentley/Aston driving man from some family money, so Id expect a very well known known and established brand - Omega fits well enough, so would AP, Patek, Lange, Rolex, or so...
It's just a matter of time...

I think that Bremont are as connected to the military as they are to a french farmer with a plane shaped dent in his field.

Not to mention the money behind MI6 as they supply bond with the watches and guns he uses in the movies as well as the cars and the clothes, He never uses his own money for those types of items......
