Ours were just over a year when we started feeding the proper stuff, they would love to crunch it because the bits are big for there jaws. We never really had any medical problems with them, one had a fatty lump removed at about 5 and he just died about 10 year old, his brother was in good health till he snuffed it recently. There predecessor was taken out by a gamekeeper so he got a slap.

Mine took to sleeping down my back, his head would be at my shoulder and his tail would be mid calf great warmer in winter.

    This is George (with SWMBO).

George's favourite thing is to hide in our house and surprise us. Normally me or one of the kids. As you can see, the wife carries him around like a baby. I apparently have a mild allergy but having him in the house almost daily for a few years seems to be building up my tolerance.

George however, is not actually our cat, he belongs to a neighbour.

I haven't had the heart to tell him yet.

Another pic of Pebbles, aka 'Queeny'

This is her happy face. She's on top of the biggest cat house/scratching post available online... Doesn't really fit. She's really an adorable cat despite her looks. Petting, grooming; all's fine but do not touch her belly. You'll get bitten and scratched. Biggest friends with our Rottweiler. (We hardly have pics of our Norwegian Forest Cat. He's living the life of his name: off to the forest, hunting)

lol, he destroys them and then has a nap in the remains !

here are my pair, Harley, who is a 'tortie' & Felix,
had a Maine Coon some time ago who lived till she was 14 but I did find it hard work to groom her..

    Harley is really fast dashing around and clever as well - in comparision to Felix who is a bit slow and dopey though he is a good mouser;

Yup, our Maine Coon doest the same.

Both Pebbles (MC) and Louie (Norwegian Forest Cat) basking in the hot October sun, on the dog's bed... The dog is right behind my wife who took the picture. Sort of complaining: help me to get those two invaders off. 52 kilo Rottweiler doesn't want (dare) to chase the red cat...

On the other side: when my wife takes the MC to the groomer, the dogs goes with her. With the dog around her, the cat is oh so calm. Without the dog in the room, she's aggressive towards the groomer.

nice photo - and good to read about the MC & the Rottie in the grooming parlour..
Does the Norwegian not require trips to the groomer or is his coat easier to keep knot/tangle free?

Dobbie ears! He’s gorgeous, freaks my wife out, I’d have him in a heartbeat. What is his personality like, we love a cuddly cat?

We have three Siamese, they are fantastic, we have had Persian and British Shorthairs previously, but for us Siamese strike the perfect balance of being cuddly, loving, great temperament and entertaining. Our oldest boy is actually called Dobbie as well because of his ears. I highly recommend them.

Nice article in the Guardian today about cats; https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...e-a-cat-person

    I would like to watch this documentary from 2017 about Istanbul street cats - the trailer looks very good;

unfortunately the film itself is on YouTube premium..

Aside from a Russian Blue as a child, always had Heinz cats.

Had assumed literally from a cartoon that a Siamese would be aloof and not cuddly cats.

British shorthair was also a breed I would like to experience, friends have one & very confident with strangers but a little slow mentally - and that is from a ginger cat parent lol.

Wife gets the cuddles, I only get them at 4pm when her reminds me it is food time!

Love a brother or sister for him, but as a kitten he was brutal as a brother, fear for a kitten if we tried now :(

We are now only a one cat family with the tabby (Narla).

The Black cat (Ned) unfortunately had to be PTS earlier this year.

Our Maine Coon lady, Pebbles, on the scale: 8 kilos. I don't have to explain that she's the leader of the pack. The other cat, the Rottweiler...

(This is her brother, Olympuzzz. Sadly not our cat. The cattery owner wanted to keep him for future litters)

How vocal are they? We have a british shorthair, he turned 1 last month. He likes to stay near us but never shows any affection unless its feeding time.
I would love to get a ragdoll or siamese aswell but we dont have enough space for multiple litter trays with multiple cats yet. The siamese cats are interesting but reading how vocal they are makes me think twice about them.

They are a little vocal, but not as much as I expected and never troublesome or annoying. Our cat prior to the Siamese was a Blue British Shorthair, he was lovely but slightly aloof, always wanted to be near us and might occasionally reach a paw out to touch us, but it was always on his terms and never really wanted any affection. Honestly I could not recommend Siamese highly enough, they are fantastic, so placid and affectionate, they love being around us and love playing and also love a lap/cuddle. I cannot see us having anything else; although I understand most orientals are similar; such as Burmese etc. ATB. Darren

i owned a british shorthair for many years - sadly gone now but was a great character , they are known for being nonchalance about anything and not needing much attention.

    Meet Kevin.

Kevin is 20, epileptic, arthritic, senile, and suffers from chronic conjunctivitis. Apart from that he is as fit as a butcher's dog.

Kevin likes turkey, sleeping, turkey, sleeping, and turkey.

Yes - he IS fast asleep, using the edge of his metal drinking bowl as a pillow.

Louie, the grey male is the sweetest, most gentile cat - until he spots mice and even rats. He kills them all. The red-haired lady is an 'average' mice catcher. And has a 'prickly' character. She throws tantrums when she thinks she's overlooked or when she's disappointed and then she starts messing around: mowing stuff off the table/working desk or she starts a fight with the Rottweiler. Who's response is a dog-like "Really?"

Neither are particularly friendly to any of the neighbours

Louie is too shy to meet anyone else. The red cat is different. Very nosy. You can pet her, but do not touch her belly. Some friends of my youngest found out FAFO-style after my son had warned them NOT to touch her belly. We needed Band-Aids afterwards.
