Draw find - 7549-7910 Seiko Tuna.

Just picked up this old beauty -

It's been in a draw since the keeper gave way in the late eighties.

Original and never messed around with, the original strap even has the original buckle, but the strap itself has seen better days, but still usable when I track down a keeper.

Glass has a few scratches but not too bad, only one mark to the original insert.

Bezel screws are flawless, few marks to the shroud, a lovely honest example.

Date is a little sticky, so have messaged Duncan (canoop) for booking it in for a service and seal.

Not sure if I want to change the glass, may just keep this as it is.

    Dates to June 1982.

    Original strap -

What are your thoughts? Keep as is, or fit a new glass and replace the strap?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated. :)

    Keep it as it is

I'd keep it as it is as long as the strap is still sound. Any cracks or signs of perishing and get it changed asap, of course.

Glass looks fine, showing its age gracefully i'd say, but if it bothers you there's no shame in a replacement.

How deep are your drawers that that's been hiding in there for 30 years?!?

    leave the glass

It's all original so I'd be tempted to leave it as is (but wear it on another strap). A bit of diamond paste should clear up the crystal nicely, you can buy this affordably on eBay.

Off to Duncan tomorrow for a full service and re-seal.

Still undecided on the glass.. I will have to sleep on that one. :)

Thanks also for the offers to buy and trade.. I think this one will stay for a while though.. ;)

I won't get it back for a couple of month's as Duncan is super busy.
(Not at all surprising though, his work is incredible, as you all know.)

I will post a few pic's when it returns! :)

    Lovely find, well done.
Personally I'd change the glass if it detracts when viewing the time. I'm sure Duncan will be able to find the correct type.

Think I will go for the replacement glass, just inspected the dial closely and it's in amazing condition, it looks just like new. :)

I'd replace the strap with a new one - rubber/plastic tend to get fragile with age.
    Leave the crystal as is.

    Great find btw!

Edit: I was to late - missed that you ordered a new crystal

Just ordered a new flat vent strap from Moldy meat on EBay, along some new fat spring bars. The original insert has a deep scratch @ 20.. Not sure if I should live with it or replace it.

I would live with the insert, original and pretty nice and i doubt you would get a better original one.
