Preowned Railmaster?
... Yes I know ... we all roll our eyes and mutter "Jeez you want the internet to decide your next watch for you ... have you no brain etc etc etc"
I'm looking for inspiration, suggestions on next purchase.
Criteria are below .. and yes I'm being pretty picky ..
Blue dial,
No divers, or sports, or dress watches
No chronos, 3 hands only preferred
40mm+
No date preferred but not essential
Minimal dial numbers
Steel or Leather strap
Mid-range+ .. Omega, Rolex, IWC ...
Workday watch probably.
I've been through the blue dial thread - not a lot fills my criteria..
Current considerations ..
Omega Aqua Terra Master co-axial (v nice - shame about numbers on dial ring)
Rolex Milgauss (numbers on dial ring again and I like PCL)
Glashutte Sixties Panorama Date (only because the non-date is 39mm and date version is 42mm)
- I'd worry about possible resale on this ...
Genta style ...
IWC Ingenieur Laureus (obvs not inhouse movement and date wheel should be blue)
AP Royal Oak Blue ticks all the boxes but would mean almost emptying the watch box which I'd rather not ... and is it tough enough for daily wear?)
Here's what I've got ... (and yes I know I'm breaking some of my own next watch 'rules' already)

Preowned Railmaster?
If you don't like the numbers on the dial of the current AT, try looking out for one of the older versions. Very pleased with mine.
How about a Nomos Zurich blaugold?
My favourite Nomos and their most expensive dial. It's a beauty and owing to the size, huge wrist presence and colour, it's more informal than a dress watch so meets your criteria. I would absolute love one.....
Get the new AT. Not my daily wearer, but I love mine for being a very flexible watch and having the most gorgeous dial.
Had it a week now and already blue fan for life!
The style may not be too popular, but the most beautiful blue dial that I have ever encountered is the Bvlgari Octo.
(photos from the web trying to show the dial; it is much better in the metal)
"No divers, sports or dress watches. No chronos"
So, essentially, 3 handed pilots watches only then?
Despite that massively restrictive criteria, my Dornbluth 99.2 has a blue face?
It also has a power reserve, so it's probably out?
The GS is a good shout, although I'd still class it as a sports watch?
As is the AP RO you don't like the price of?
I'm confused....
Personally I think you already have the best watch in that criteria with the Glashutte 70's. However if you are looking for cheaper 'everyday' version I'd go with the new Omega globemaster or a nomos.....or the Rolex oyster perpetual
Thanks for all the suggestions ... all very much appreciated.
Dornbluth 99.2 looks nice - (reminds me a little of my Portuguese? )
Globemaster is one to consider - thanks for that one.
Here's a quick shot of the globemaster ... only 39mm though .... interested to hear from anyone who has one of these?
Despite not keeping my last Rolex (' 96 Sea Dweller) for more than a few weeks ... I'm feeling drawn to the Milgauss (and annoyed I missed Marc's the other day).
P.S. My comment regards sports was really aimed at divers ...
I think this meets the criteria:

Love my speed master triple date in blue :)
Thanks again ... IWC Ingenieur Laureus is a new wildcard... pretty scarce ... but definitely worth investigating.

Unfortunately in white gold and not in stainless steel.
Anyway, a favourite design..
Probably would have switched strap to a dark brown alligator.

I think the milgauss is winning though!
How about the new 39mm OP? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449313480.574240.jpg
I just got this ...
You don't specify Automatic, manual wind or Quartz. How about a Blue Aerospace?
Blue dial: Check
No divers, sport or dress...I suppose you could classify this as a pilot watch...
No chrono, 3 hands preferred...OK this has just 2
40mm+: Check
No date preferred: You can choose to not display the date of you so wish
Minimal dial numbers: 12,3,6 and 9 only
Steel or leather strap: OK this is titanium but easy to switch to a leather strap. In fact I bought the watch on a lovely black Breitling leather strap. The bracelet was bought separately.
Mid range: Check
Good every day workday watch...

Pre AT Seamaster 120m Quartz. Circa 2000, Lovely steel blue, the 60 second chapter is very discreet on these, they reach 40mm if you include the deeply dished case with integrated crown guard. Robust enough for daily wear being from a time when Seamaster was a reference to increased wr so not Sport or Dress. Just a tough daily wearer, screw down crown and a nice unobtrusive mid range watch.
After all that I can't see your photo Ian! What was it?
