Interesting timing. GQ's November issue is generally loaded with Watch ads for the coming holidays. Interesting that a "spread" long on bling and short on hard data appears in the same month. I bet that virtuallly every watch in the spread is a regular holiday advertiser.
I stopped subscribing a couple of years ago because the mag became more ad/catalog than the readable mag it once was.
Just my perceptions, of course.
Presumably he's not going to be talking about the friction properties of the diamond endstones on Lange tourbillons...Originally Posted by Rinaldo1711

Nick Foulkes (who recently appears to have become the spokesman for the English speaking wristwear aficionados) also has an article in this month?s ?How To Spend It? (an FT supplement).
It?s not online I?m afraid.
Titled 'ON YOUR MARQUES' is all about the new Super Chronos ... split secs to you and me.
Split secs are the ?new tourbies? (i.e. New Black) according to the JLC CEO.

What a movement*. And I want to like the JLC Duometre a Chronographe at £21K but my heart is already taken by the ...
Centigraphe. Look no running secs. £26.5K

If I am not mistaken one of the Citizen quartz modules carries all the chrono functions on three subdials, the three main hands showing normal hours, minutes, and running secs.

* Just look at the clicks inside the winding wheels ... 8)
THIN is the new BLACK
Plenty. It's also sponsored by Harrods :pukeright:. The "A-Z of the World's Best Watch Brands" includes Lacoste, Hugo Boss and Pulsar (as well as plenty of worthy mentions), but not a mention of Sinn, Nomos or Fortis. :roll:Originally Posted by Karl

I was thinking exactly the same thing John. Those who know only what they see in magazines and ADs are missing a LOT of stuff.Originally Posted by abraxas

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Quite so. I picked up the supplement in Selfridges without having to buy the mag, and the whole thing was a gay as a Christmas tree. Being sponsored by that daft Egyptian conspiracy theorist did it no favours either - like the store itself, irrelevant to all bar a few fund managers and some greasy non-doms (and no, including a sprinking of fashion non-brands doesn't count).Originally Posted by cornflakes
The reason for not including Sinn, Nomos or Fortis is because Rods doesn't sell them. So much for the widest selection in the world!
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
