I'd add a Grumpy-o-meter, so we can rate each others levels of grumpiness.

Over in The Bear Pit, Philip (new forum owner) suggested someone start a thread where we can suggest improvements, which can then be discussed and potentially implemented. SO here it is.
Examples on the other thread were;
1) adding a "like" button
2) spitting SC into watch / non watch
3) more emoticons
I dont have any specific suggestions myself, but thought I would facilitate the discussion by starting this thread.

What would I like to see changed? Genuinely nothing.
I have a whinge about the jumble sale crap in SC and wish people would show a little more respect (and self-respect) selling the stuff the charity shops wouldn't take, but I wouldn't change a thing about this place.
Definitely split SC into watch and non-Latin related stuff.
Definitely mo endless lists of forums like Watchuseek, how anyone can navigate that awful sight is beyond me.
Keep it simple, TZ is largely excellent as it is.
I would like to relax rules for entry to the Cheese subforum - I know it shows commitment but the stains takes ages to wash out.
I would also like to split SC into "Bothered to read WTB first" and "Didn't bother" sections
I also think the old rule of giving every member reaching 4500 posts a Speedy is passé. How about a Sub?

I think this is a fine forum and nothing needs changing. It's simplicity and short list of sub forums makes it a joy to use.
I just hope nothing happens to the Bear Pit or Boy's Room.
Some contributors would really, really like a "dislike" button, I suspect. Perhaps even two dislike buttons; one for general content and one specifically to register disapproval of grammatical and spelling errors.
On the specific examples cited in the first post, I'd welcome a "like" button, but not more emoticons. Quite happy with SC in its present form.

Give each member the right to ban one other member permanently, with this right being renewed each month for the remaining members. With the number of personal vendettas ticking over at any one point, I wonder how many members would be left after 6 months?

I think a like button would be good, this functionality has been around for years - especially useful for reviews on watches to gauge the quality of the review.
Maybe a shoe sub-forum? ;-)

Splitting SC into watch and non-watch related items might be a good idea - it would certainly stop the whiners whining about it. Other than that I'd leave the best forum around exactly as it is.

I'd like to see SC split too, or at least for us to have a (sensible) discussion and maybe poll about it. I know Eddy isn't/wasn't keen but now may be a good time to at least discuss it.

I quite favour the idea of a thumbs up/thumbs down vote button (I know we have these as icons we can attach to our posts already); or as others have said 'like' and 'dislike' buttons. I think the forum is a great way to get inspiration, ideas, throw questions out to the wise members, entertain yourself and just to try and help fellow members out. My only small issue is the occasional 'keyboard warrior' taking the slightest thing out of context and trolling peoples posts. I'm all for freedom of speech but if people considered what they were writing before jumping all over the merest indiscretion, it may promote a friendlier place to pass some time?

Agree re splitting SC, but please maintain the access rules as I think it helps keep it safe.
I like the self regulation, and would hate for things to be over moderated. If you are planning to introduce moderators anyone who asks to be one should probably be prevented from being one!
It won't make the slightest difference to the SC-related moaning.

I honestly can't see any need for changes, the SC is fine as it is & having a thumbs up/thumbs down/like button is childish Facebook or Twitter nonsense.
Maybe ban anyone posting juvenile memes they've stolen from Facebook because they don't have the intelligence the contribute anything original to a discussion, or just ban the only two numpties I have on ignore and this place would be perfection!
But they'll likely have to start their brown-nosing campaigns from scratch, as their considerable previous efforts appear to be for naught. Ha!
I don't understand why you'd want to split the sales corner in 2. It's quite simple really, if you're not interested in cameras, bags, shoes, knives, rings, pianos, snooker tables, cars, iPads, iPhones, sweatshirts, leather jackets, sonos systems, discount vouchers, sunglasses, pens, then don't click the advert.

That’s always baffled me too: most of the time the title listing was preceded by OT and even if it wasn’t the item was. Even more bizarre was the moaners had to open up the post in order to see the item before taking time to then write a moan about it.

Leave it as is. Sometimes SC gets a little swamped with non watch related items, but then I haven't seen a watch for sale I wanted for a while anyway.
If the other stuff was in a sub forum, I may have missed out on the Star Wars prints which were up for sale this week. Sure some (maybe a lot) is tat, but there is some other great stuff which gets offered up for sale.
A like button could be a good addition, but not a dislike button, some members would auto-dislike some other posters posts as a matter of course, which would just get irritating.
I say leave as it is, its one of the best forums on the interweb
There is undoubtedly some tat pushed on SC but it makes for some good comments from those less than impressed
I've bought a few non-watch items via SC and largely because each time its been painless and with a level of trust that doesn't apply to other forums or fleabay
However, The first sign of multiple ads, spam or over moderation and I'm off

I think we might need, for a time at least, a sub-forum for threads such as this one. To include:
- Change of forum ownership
- New forum ownership
- Verticalscope Terms and Conditions
- Things to Improve the Forum Under its New Ownership
- Philip! Things You Need To Ban NOW!
- Swanbourne...EddieP...Super Hero
...or else a sticky thread with a list of links.
