Strange that lots of the people congratulating the ex-forum owner on what a wonderful forum he provided are now queueing up to suggest ways it should be changed.
Thanks for everything Eddie, best wishes, especially to Mrs Platts for a speedy recovery.

Wow.
Eddie firstly my sincerest best wishes for Carol, my best friend had a cardiac arrest this year and the loss of oxygen caused some brain trauma, so I have some first hand experience of needing to care for a incapacitated loved one. I hope Carol is on the road to recovery.
Thanks for creating such a unique place for us to gather in, its been a lively place full of characters and I trust the new guard will remain as hands off.
Best wishes with the Timefactors brand.
Eddie,
Thanks for not only establishing a superb platform for enthusiasts and novices alike, but also for creating some exceptional timepieces which satisfy an incredibly demanding audience.
Best of luck to you and to Mrs P, and wish her the best of health.
Well all I can add is my thanks too Eddie, and I hope your home life settles down and you can get back to normality soon.
Thank you for your efforts Eddie, and best wishes to you and your family.
Eddie another sincere thanks for allowing us to enjoy this great forum, all the best to you and the Carol.
Another big thank you to Eddie for all his hard work.
Many thanks Eddie - I've not been posting much but I've never been far away. It's been a great place - hope it stays nearly as good.

Another daily lurker / occasional commenter saying thanks and wishing you both well. This place has provided many laughs and much education for a novice watch-fan. Here's to the future.
Here's hoping your wife recovers comfortably and well. Thanks for all the years of the forum Eddie, you made it a great place!
All the best to you Eddie and good luck for the future, as has already been said thanks for creating something quite special in this forum, it's a great legacy.
Crikey! I've been here a fair while and the simplicity of Eddie's style of management has made it my most regularly visited forum.
Best wishes for your wife, and for your domestic duties!
Well, just wish to thank you a LOT for having created such a wonderful place, which has given me much pleasure.
I wish you all the very best and your wife's recovery, but good to know we can still find you here.
I just hope you don't, at a later stage, be thinking like :
''Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
All the best
Peter
For me it started with the PRS-1 Speedbird. I followed that project with great enthusiasm, then came the PRS-2, PRS-3 and many great watches after. At the same time the forum took off as the Time Factors clan grew.
Visiting TZ-UK forum is very much part of my daily routine and I hope things don't change too much, but down the track I expect there will some change, it's inevitable.
I sincerely hope your wife gets better soon Eddie and you get the opportunity to take it a bit easier.
All the best mate and thanks for what you created for all of us.
Terry
Wow Eddie, this is an announcment I never expected! I joined back in 2003 and have seen some changes to the forum, mostly for the good. We've seen some characters come and go too over the years. I have enjoyed every minute of my time here.. I've been educated on all matters of things, not just watches! I hope Carol makes a good recovery and wish you both good health for the future.
I'm sure Timefactors will grow as a business for you ... you have introduced some fantastic watches and I hope this will continue especially now you can give more time now the forums have been freed up from you.
Once again Eddie a huge thank you from me for everything and I'm sure the forum will be in good hands with Phil.
Best wishes,
Rod
Bugger, I've nearly got a tear in my eye!

I echo the best wishes expressed here to both you and Mrs Platt.
Good health to you sir ;-)
As a relative new comer I would like to past my best wishes to your wife and wish her a speedy recovery, it's been an amazing journey for me in a short space of time but this forum really is a great place to learn so thank you very much and all the best
Best of Luck to you and your wife Eddie, I hope everything goes well for you both.
Regards
V
I'd like to add my thanks and admiration for all you have done and achieved over the years Eddie.
This forum has been my home for 12 years and is the only one, (and I've been a member of them all) that I haven't got disenchanted with and left.
The forum is really just an extension of yourself and has been populated by many characters over the years all of whom have left an impression.
Best wishes to Carol for a speedy recovery and of course to you my old china who I am proud to call a friend.
I can't imagine the old place will ever seem the same again.
All the best mate,
Neil.
Cheers,
Neil.
Eddie, this has been a great forum - thank you for creating it.
Wish you all the best and hope your wife is on the mend.
Jon.
Jesus…you look away for a few moments and your whole world alters course!
Can I add my thanks to Eddie?
For several years, this place has been a friend, an enemy, a support, a teacher, a frustration, a diversion, a resource, a financial drain, a pastime, an agony aunt, a comedian, a newspaper and a very welcome refuge from everyday life.
There's no forum like it.
An understandable decision. Sorry to hear about your wife, Eddie, and thanks again for all your efforts here.
Lovely forum, been reader for quite a while, good luck to you, Eddie and your wife!
I'm a member on here but don't post much I'm afraid (as my paltry post count shows). I've been a member over on RLT since that forum started & just plain like it there.
I met Eddie a couple of years ago at the funeral of former member Mr Crowley (real name Paul). He was a fellow Leeds based watch enthusiast whom I met through the RLT forum, eventually Paul decided that TZ-UK was the place for him & he became a prolific poster (& buyer) on here.
Anyway Eddie was a gent & I wish him, this forum & of course his wife all the very best for the future :)

Sorry to hear about the reasons. Best of luck to both of you!
And many, many thanks for having been the host of this great forum. Please keep posting now and then, though - I like your humour.
Hi Eddie, sorry to hear the reasons behind the decision. Hope things improve at home.
Perhaps the household chores could inspire a new line of watches starting with the Speedironer III?
Chris.
So long Guvnor.
Carry on making great watches and best wishes
Good luck for the future and hope the Mrs recovers soon.
Thanks for setting up and maintaining a terrific site.
Good luck to you and the future owners
Thanks Eddie for everything that you have achieved here.
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to participate here and to have met you and Mrs. P in person.
All the very best wishes to you both for the future, don't be a stranger!
Philip - please don't mess it up!
Cheers,
MarkC
Never met you Eddie, but many thanks for hosting the forum.
It's been a great source of information over the past few years.
Here's to the future.....
Sorry to hear of your good lady wifes accident wishing her a speedy and full recovery .Once again thank you for this brilliant resource and all the time effort and hard work you put into making such a popular forum .
Hi Eddie
Glad TF is doing well and of course family comes first.
I've been around since the launch of the Dreadnought and great times it has been. Let's hope it continues in the same vein, and all the very best to you
Regards
Tim
Eddie; Thanks. Have fun and keep in touch
Philip; This forum needs moderation, it always has and always will

Learn from Pistonheads - a former privately owned specialist forum, taken over by Haymarket, gone to the dogs, where having an opinion which contradicts the lowest common denominator of mass opinion leads to summary banning. A victory for commercialism over niche interests.
But, as they say, I'm not bitter!
Eddie, it is a great shame to see you go - I have been an admirer of your ethos, your watches and your site for a long time. Long live the independent forum!
Eddie - I've just read this, and I wanted to echo what's been said by so many others already. Thank you.
I haven't posted much over the last few years, but I often browse and contribute where I think I can add something. I'll continue to do so but, as Chris said, this place won't be the same without you.
All the best
Rich
Sorry to hear about your wife Eddie, this is a great forum.
Wow! Sorry to hear you're going Eddie, it's been a fantastic forum. Hopefully it'll remain unchanged long into the future.
Good luck to you and Mrs P.
Thanks for the last 11 odd years Eddie, all the best for you and yours for the future
Steve B
Just seen this. Well nothing lasts forever does it? You have however, created a unique forum that it has been a pleasure to be a member of. You also leave it in great shape for the new owners. and this, you should be very proud of.
Whilst I don't post much, I always check in here daily to see what is going down and I have learnt so much during my time and not just about watches!! Long may it continue.
All the best for the future
Blimey, that was a bit of a shock.
I've not been around for that long, but it has been a real pleasure, and it is clear from the tone of the forum over that time that you are held in very high regard indeed.
I fully understand and respect your reasons, and have no doubt that you'll be sorely missed.
I just hope that things work out for you and Mrs P, and that you remain a regular contributor to TZ-UK
Haven't logged on for a few days and this happens! Best wishes to you and the Mrs. Thanks for creating and running the only watch forum worth having a login to. Let's hope it stays that way.
I just want to take a moment to echo everyone else, namely to welcome Philip and thank Eddie and wish his family well.
"change is good" is a bit if mantra of mine, so lets help I don't need a new mantra anytime soon
I'm more of lurker than a poster these days, but the membership here have provided so much, on such a wide range of topics (occasionally even watches ;)) that TZ is almost a google substitue, with no safe filter :D
But a little like wikipedia, it basically polices itself, long may this continue.
All the best in regards to the health of your wife Eddie, and please make the damn chrono!
Every forum I've seen Verticalscope take over has died on its arse sooner or later. This one will be no different.
Thanks for the ride, Eddie. All good things must come to an end.
Mr. Platts, thanks for you efforts in creating and running the forum.
Keep cranking out the watches and straps and we will keep buying them.
Best wishes to you and your wife.
