Didn’t used to be a fan of the explorer but lately I’m really taken by them. Sooooo, one may be on order. Now how to tell SWMBO we won’t be getting a new kitchen until a bit later in the year 🤪

I know how to order take away. I have her something special for Christmas that will get me off the hook luckily, and I’ve just paid for a week in Vagus and ten days in Cancun so she’s ‘on side’ at the moment, I hope

Yes. On the SC listing I originally stated looking for a Ceramic Daytona, but people don't seem to want to part with those. I have always liked the SD4000 and included it in the list of possible trades.

Anyway, I was offered this 2015 SD plus cash for the 5512, so the deal was done. It really is a stunning watch and to date the last of the SDs without a cyclops.

I have been looking at wrist shots of this tonight against wrist shots of the Daytona and I think I might stick rather than twist on this occasion.

A lovely watch Ken, but you do risk becoming the Zsa-Zsa Gabor of Rolex husbands. “Darlink, of course zis is for ever!”

Sorry to hear the 5512’s gone.

Is it a secret who you traded with?
    Skyman?
Im picking up an SD4000 tomorrow but it wouldn't have been at the expense of that lovely piece you had.
Everyone here knows you are going round in circles until the Daytona comes up which when you eventually get it you will declare is the one.
Then you will switch to something else.
There's a guy on M3 cutters who does the same with cars.
Its an illness but you already know that.
Im heading down to Preston tomorrow for the pick up hoping the Mrs doesn't notice I'm gone for most of the day!
Its bloody awful this watch thing.

Thanks H, at least you can't accuse me of not giving these things a try. Still yet to try a GMT?

The 5512 has gone to someone with a decent selection of 5513s who will appreciate it more than I did and it is more fitting to his existing collection.

First impression, the bracelet is an absolute stunner.

I'm also of the view that you've made the right choice. For me the SDc is the best watch they've made to date. Perfect size, simple, no cyclops, awesome bracelet, siblimely engineered and just bloody nice to look at. Good choice sir... and you have some cash in your back pocket

No, it wasn't although I did have several exchanges with Simon, but we didn't quite get there. I did a hero status, it was Andrew (Ilovesubs). It wasn't a straight swop, we agreed a fair trade price for the SD4000 and he paid the balance in cash. A deal we were both happy with - no robbery

Thank you. I had seen your WTB and my thoughts were if someone offers up a Daytona to give you a quick PM, but I think I prefer this now and the trade price wasn't that much above the final RRP, whereas a Daytona is going to cost £3.5k to £5k above RRP, which does seem crazy.

Stupid me , sold my 4000 before they were discontinued. However, in the real world, it does nothing that a standard Sub can't do .
All these 'professional' steel watches are 'village people' models, a harmless type of play acting. Good fun. But walking round the city wearing a watch designed for the depth of the ocean is a bit like all those middle-aged guys in track suits, off to the pub in their SUVs.
Modern Life! At least it's harmless.

And how many times have you actually used the tachymeter on your absolutely necessary white gold Daytona to record speed as you whizz along the Florida sands. No, I guessed not, instead you are down the pub with the rest of old guys singing YMCA.

Robby, the 5512 was laid before you on a silken cushion like you were a royal prince and I was some visitor from the East looking to exchange it for exotic spices. The cash offers on top kept getting higher, but in the end I was banished from your kingdom never to look upon its face again...

I think you (even though not your 1st choice) made a better px than a Daytona with that. Still prefer the 5512 you had though, I actually found the thread to show a customer of mine who is looking for a 5513 and discovering what a minefield it is. He absolutely loved it and his sentiment was similar to mine when I told him you were looking to swap for a ceramic Daytona. I guess when you actually own these things after a while you don't see it's 'value' on the wrist? And it must be too tempting to cash in and get something 'better' and a load on top.

So where's the lucky 5512 owner's new pride n joy pics?

My thought exactly! I also prefer the end links being leveled with the lugs instead of having a raised profile as was the case with the previous reference. Furthermore, the bezel pip is lower and hence less prone to injury.. and more appealing to me design wise. The improved movement is also a nice thing to have..

Since I bought the SD43, I'm considering part-exchanging this YM 116622 for the new DJ41. I'm just a little bit scared I might regret it. Maybe I should sell other pieces instead.
