Not sure if this shows how big an exp 2 is, or actually how reasonably sized a DSSD is.

crazy crazy prices, wonder what a dealer would actually pay?

just been bid £13,500 for a 2019 full set pepsi. They're whacking £3500 on them. Big mark ups

Wearing this a lot lately and really loving it. Perfect amount of blue for me.

  16. #1616
I'm not wearing this much lately. I thought it would be my forever grail watch when I bought it over 10 years ago, but I'm getting much more enjoyment out of watches an order of magnitude less in cost these days.

Exactly how I would wear it if I owned this watch, a very cool combo.

I bet since you posted this in Dec its added another £10k, such is the power of Instagram and must have hot watches. Saw an article where dealers were offering to swap SS Daytonas for a blue 41 OP “ bonkers”

I really like that watch. Regret giving it to my brother.
It’s one of those pieces you need to see in person.

I just received this from my Father in Law. He's decided he isn't going to wear it anymore and knowing of my interest he thought I should have it.

I've checked the serial number and it dates from 1973 but no box or papers, sadly.

This leads me to believe it is a 1503 but can anybody confirm? Thanks.

    Wow, birthyear watch for me.

    Certainly looks like a 1503

And a beauty at that! Are you planning on wearing it as is, or maybe refurbish?

Thanks, I like it a lot and I'm very grateful for it. Reading a few more posts on here I've learnt that it has quite a rare "Shantung" dial too, which is interesting.

I'm definitely going to wear it but since I already have a SS Datejust on a bracelet I'm planning to swap the gold bracelet for a black leather strap and source a Rolex buckle so as to give a bit of variety.

    Nice!

If it was me I think I’d be going full refurb, someone like “thewatchpolisher” laser welding the case/bracelet and re pinning the bracelet plus a bezel recut, then a full service for it to be “as new” for another 49 years service.

But I accept some people would prefer “originality”

    Either way, it’s a cracker of a watch 👍

    True
I’m forgetting he’s about 25yrs my junior and of Irish heritage so he’s used to manual labour.
I can say that as so am I.

I couldn’t find my boots so did the lot in trainers. Positive I’ve jet washed my little toe nail half off but I’ll have a proper look tomorrow. Lower back killing.

Just what I needed after 7 hours on trains yesterday. Currently sprawled out on the sofa eating a £2 special offer Easter egg with a pack of Rennie next to me. Living dangerously.

That’s lovely. Have one on my shortlist but the rrp mark ups on them are ridiculous! A real favourite of mine.
