A story of jealousy, greed and one upmanship (car content)

Not really as machiavellian as it sounds. I've recently bought a W221 S Class 320 CDI. Lovely car in Designo Mystic Blue with a smattering of Brabus bits on it including the all important D6 chip.

I noted that the S63 and S65 AMG models have an IWC clock in the centre of the dash where the normal one is.

Anyway, my boss went to BCA this morning and came home with a silver CL63 AMG. Beautiful car. Black leather and all the kit. Performance is phenomenal and the sound is amazing. Here are the two vehicles head to head so to speak:

The thing that sticks in my throat is that it obviously has the IWC clock in the dash!

A bit more digging around on international Ebay uncovers this:

Nets done to just over £200. So, the question is, do I go ahead and order it and get the little bugger fitted...

Nah, an electric IWC? Can't be real. Had it been an automatic or handwinder... that would have made things different!

If you want it, get it. Personally I wouldn't be bothered myself cos it sounds like you're more than happy with the other super aspects of the Merc.
As for your boss being an arse and trumping you - well, that's a different matter entirely really......

Nick your bosses. Failing that, does his office have a letterbox?

I'll think about if over Xmas and if I'm still hankering after one by then, I'll buy it.

In the meantime I'll console myself with the fact that I'm currently getting 33 mpg whilst the AMG is showing single figures.

    Get real.....don`t do it!

Give yourself a slap around the head (or get someone else to do it) to knock the sense back into you!

Put the £200 towards another nice watch; the appeal of having a clock ion your car that says IWC on the dial will son wear off.

Will it actually fit in the dash? If so... I know I'd want one, £200 is cheap for a car mod!

Waste of money? Yep. But then so is a nice car! If I could put a JLC clock in my car, I would in a heartbeat...

Is it actually made by IWC or is it a replacement face on the standard clock?

Pretty sure it is just a replacement face.

You bought a stinky poor-person's diesel - only classy performance properly fuelled cars have such luxuries as the drivers appreciate them.............

If you're after trumping your boss, can't you just do it the old fashioned way and do his wife?

That's cheap compared with the £150000 price for a clock in the new Bentley.

Why not spend a little more and buy an MX-5 instead?

If it ticks loud enough to mask the sound of the Diesel engine then go for it.

Catch yourself on – it’s just a bloody clock, for Christ sake!

Well I've not bought the clock.

But I've bought a set of 20" Brabus wheels instead...
