Who in the watch world owns who.

For some time I have been interested in the relationship between different brands and the companies who own them. As a consequence I have tried to put together a list.

I think you can add Gerald Genta under LVMH (although it's a bit difficult to make out whether they still exist in their own right or have been completely subsumed into Bvlgari).

    Chopard.

J and T Windmills is also part of The Dreyfuss Group.

Citizen Group / Holdings own Arnold & Son. Possibly through Prothor / Manufacture La Joux-Perret SA. Doesn't MLJP own Angelus?

Good call. Do they still own Eterna and Corum too?

  16. #16
Ebel is owned by Movado (not LVHM). Other brands include Concord and 'fashion' watches like Hugo Boss and Lacoste.

Seiko is also owner of Wired and Alba brands.

The brands that they operate through the Seiko Watch Corporation are: Grand Seiko, Dolce & Exceline, Brightz, Lukia, Prospex, iu, Ruse, Spirit, Alpinist, Ignition, Premier, Velatura, Coutura, Arctura, Sportura, Criteria, Rivoli, Vivace, etc.), Credor, Galante, Wired, Wired XYZ, Pulsar, Lorus.

Not all of them should be considerated as watch brands, but just part of a wide range of products of Seiko.

Seiko Nextage Co., Ltd. owns Alba and licensed brand watches.

    Don't forget......Zeno-watch Basel - Independent.

Maybe we should do a list of brands that are still independent?

  33. #33
I'm not an expert but I think we should include:
    • U-Boat -
    • Frederique Constant
    • Graham - though may be excluded for the same reason as U-Boat
    • SevenFriday
    • Edox

I think these are all independent (but happy to be corrected.)

    Apparently not

    Gevril group contains:

    Edox
    Versace
    Ferragamo
    Gevril
    Fortis
    Versace Versus
    GV2
    Haurex
    Johna Eric
    Louis Eraud
    Rüdiger
    Just Cavalli
    Jowissa
    Calibre
    Hush Puppies
    Giulio Romano

    http://gevrilgroup.com/edox-watches/
    http://gevrilgroup.com/our-watch-brands/

It's curious that Edox doesn't feature on the Our Brands page of the Gevril website and has its' own page.

I considered using the full name ( this subject has come up before on the forum ) but in my experience no one desperately cares about the corporate structure, just what it says on the dial.

Majority owned by Chanel. One reason B&R does so many ceramic cased watches; Chanel has form, and one of the few ceramic case-making facilities outside of Swatchco (the former Chatelain case and bracelet manufacturer, owned by Chanel and producing ceramics also for other low volume manufacturers such as MB&F and Richard Mille).
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Good reference. That covers the majority of siginificant companies that are non-independently owned, and is a good answer to the "who owns whom?" question.

For me, the most significant independents are Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Nomos and Breitling.

We could go on all day listing the smaller independents.

    Anyone else surprised that

Cartier is the largest brand in Richemont’s portfolio and the number-two watch brand in the world after Rolex.
