Really good test. Thank you.
On some of the latest diver Seiko applies a new lumibrite mixture. Claimed to be 60 percent more effective.
Let's test it. My sbbn029 (Tuna with steel looking cermet shroud) has the new lumibrite. The sbbn019 (Tuna with white ceramic shroud) has the old lumibrite. Breitling and sinn with superluminova. Citizen Chronomaster with unknown but attractive blue lume.
Two hours in the sun before test start.
The pictures have different ambient lighting unfortunately.
Viewing last picture might benefit from an increase in screen brightness.
Pretty big difference as you see. Seiko has always been impressive with their lume but now they are outstanding.
Breitling doesn't stand a chance. The sinn is decent. The chronomaster is surprisingly good. I knew it would be decent at least. Always when driving in to garages etc it lights up beautifully.
Would be fun to test a citizen AutoZilla or similar diver.
Also would be fun to compare with Rolex new blue lume.
Really good test. Thank you.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Love seiko lume. My mm300 is good but that is bonkers bright.
The Seiko just outshines the rest
Very informative but to set the record straight how long afterwards was the last picture taken?
Interesting, but what I want from lume is to be able to read it for the longest time, not to be bright for a short time. If a given lume is able to store a certain amount of energy, I want it to release that energy at the lowest possible rate consistent with being readable to a dark-adapted eye.
It's like a torch; if you turn it to maximum brightness you will also run down the battery the fastest. So the brightest lume an hour or two after charging is likely to be the dimmest come morning.
