Omega Info Please x 2 Watches (One Royal Airforce and the other ??? not military)

    Hi All,

A friend has a couple watches in his possession and wondered if someone could offer some advice please on both Omegas including how much they are worth as he is considering trading up and selling these.

The first is a black faced Omega watch with case measuring 44mm. The movement serial number is 7297660 (which I presume is from 1920 – 1935). I’m unable to find any other information on this one?

The second is one is the one I really like. This is a Royal Air Force watch from I presume 1942 Ref CK 2292 as per omegas website.

    Thanks in advance.

The second one is a hs8 navigators watch from 1942 it was actually issued to the air fleet arm section of the Royal Navy if I remember right. They where used by navy pilots and navigators presumidly on air craft carriers?
They have chronometer rated movements a lot have very poor quality cases the metal reminds me a lot of dinky car metal.

There are a few s/s ones out there but I've never seen one in the flesh.

Price well I've just sold mine for £390 but I'd say anywhere up to £450 for a good one.

The first looks a bit Frankenstein to me? But I'm no expert.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Baden, the second one sounds about right to what I can find. Regrading the first one it looks like a little Frankenstein to me to me too.

the second one is a pocket watch movement that's been re-dialled and re-cased -- hence the subseconds at 9, because really the crown (winder) was at 12 and the subseconds were at 6 and it's been turned through 90 degrees.

Horrid thing, probably from thee Ukraine

Thank you antonyh, Rev-O and fotopetar.

I too like the second one and the first is as suspected a case of bits.

    Best wishes
