What do you use your chronograph for?

I'm sure most, if not all of us have owned a chronograph at one point. Do you use the stopwatch and what for ? Or is it just the look of the watch you like.

I use mine for cooking. My Seiko 7t59 was a perfect companion for my venture into the world of Swiss Rosti.

I think Tag Microtimer would be the right device.

On-topic: I usually use them just for traffic duration.

I really don't use it. It's just a nice function to see in watches.

I just like the look of the complications really, my arms are barely long enough for me to tell the time let alone time things with the chrono things

Usually to time long car journeys.

    Start Chronograph.
    Set off on journey.
    Arrive at destination
Several hours later notice chrono is still running.

Mostly pointless things, like how long it takes a stewardess to come to my seat after I press the call button and things like that when I'm bored. Being an engineer I do occasionally have to use it for work though.

I like the way the hands go round and round and round and round, how do you stop these things?

You can't. You just wait for the battery in your automatic watch to run out!

Bought my Daytona obviously with the chronograph function then within 3 weeks found a great use for it - sold it to assist with the deposit for my son's first house, kids who would have them.

    Regards.

    A chronostop would be adequate.

    Genuinely laughed at that.

    Yeah, happens every time :(

10 years ago i used to use the bezel on a dive watch (minutes) to time `activities in the marital chambers` with Mrs Right-Force.

Now i need the resolution of a Chronograph (seconds).

This and similarly, making the perfect cup of tea:

Pour boiling water into cup with tea bag
    Start chronograph
    Wait precisely 3 minutes
Continue waiting a further 7-15 minutes
    Say "oh crap!"
Enjoy lukewarm cup of stewed tea.

    Cooking
    Parking duration
    Other stuff like dog walks.
When travelling for work find it very handy to time the transit
    from station/airport to client/customer/hotel.
Then I know how much to allow for the return journey.

Always wondered why some chronos have a pilots bezel that counts forward, okay
it can time 2 concurrent events, I would prefer a countdown bezel as counting up is covered by the chrono.

You aren't stepping up at all, you're being a pointlessly aggravating pillock. Again. And again. And again. Ad nauseam.

I use mine to see how long it takes Rajen and Number 2 to attack the newbies.

This question is asked all the time most people use it to time their eggs. Have to use it for something I use it to time how long it takes to get through a long line usually takes the edge off.

Welcome to the forum pay no attention to the easily offended posters.

Haven't owned a chronograph for quite some time now, but when I did it was used exclusively for AeroPress coffee brewing.

It's a watch forum. If it's getting too much for you and you react angrily because you don't understand what people are asking* perhaps it's time to step away.

    * of course it's possible the OP doesn't actually understand chronographs are for timing things but I believe he wanted to know what we actually used them for. You know, as in working out how fast you're going using mile markers or whatever.
