    No, I don´t.

Average service costs will indeed rise as any independent can service the ETA movement in an existing Tudor, but these new ones will probably have to go back.
What I do have a problem with is thát and that wisdom seems to think this dependancy a góód thing.
In house is bad news in this respect.

I have that same problem with Swatch, Richemont or any other luxury watch sellers doing it.

But why stop there, if you want really cheap servicing at any corner key cutting store then maybe you should confine yourself to quartz movements, Swatch for instance make it nice and easy to change their batteries

Seriously though I think it is rather short sighted to limit yourself to ETA and bearing in mind the imminent restriction on parts you may find that these too become more tricky to service eventually. If cost is the issue then simply take it to a non authorised Rolex specialist who will be able to do it for around half the cost of the authorised guys. It is a little like choosing a Fiat over a Ferrari since the servicing will be simpler.

But would you take your Ferrari to halfords?

    Why?
To have your expensive item serviced by the people who make it, is that such a bad thing?
You buy a luxury item, and everyone knows (at least on here I'd like to think) you buy into the brand's whole ecosystem. If you don't like it, don't buy into it, no one makes you do it so what's the problem?

I do not for a moment doubt that the Rolex made (or not) movement will proove itself to be reliable and durable which is nice BUT it will need AD service which is reallyréally un-nice.
That averages out as léss nice
The new Tudor movement is made by Tudor, Rolex do not make it for them. If they did, it wouldn't be in-house.

It seems to be outsourced by Tudor.

As to cheap service I see no point in ´in house´ if the bottom line is more expense for the same performance.

Regardless of who´s house it is made in, I don´t like to be tied to that house for maintenance. For me this applies to cars and watches equally. Good ´mechanics´ are not limited to ADs. Quite the reverse as the independants are way more subjected to market mechanisms than the ADs.
Imo it is a very bad development that by and large wisdom is supporting the disappearance of independants.
At least with cars there is a lively market in OEM compatible diagnostics electronics to reset the systems after maintenance or replacing a bulb.

What information do you base that on?

Independent watchmakers with Rolex parts accounts can service Rolex and Tudor watches using OEM parts. They do seem to be more expensive than most watchmakers but are usually less expensive than the Rolex service center.

there isn't a source or any information, it's just made up twaddle dressed up as fact from our resident Swiss watch industry hater.

Someone twitted elsewhere about how it was outsourced by Tudor to various suppliers in Switzerland, presumably to Rolex's designs given the similarity to that new movement of their own, and was "assembled" by Tudor. However none of these statements I read provided any detail. But in any case, I'm as likely to get my watch information from Twattah as I am a medical diagnosis.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

I just bought a brand new pelagos albeit not the new model for 2300 at my local beaverbrooks.A tad off 20% discount so in my opinion 2.5k should be gettable.

Got my first tudor ysterday, compared to my old 16610: really nice flat case (the rolex floats a bit more). Shocking detail: the cloth strap is a striking 170 euro's to replace without the buckle. Steel bracelet is very nice but indeed limited sizing. Nice detail :the ceramic balls ont the side of the clasp, makes it very smooth.

The Pelagos is a cracking watch, I wear it playing golf, the expandable clasp is perfect for good wrist action.

Here's my golfing combo worn on the course today (sorry Scott... ),

Had it since its release (3 years ago?) and never considered parting with it.
