New Arrival - Seiko Special Edition Tuna

    Hi all

Just received my New Tuna after a 3 week wait!

This is the new Special Edition Prospex Tuna to mark the 50th anniversary of Seiko Dive watches.

    First impressions are great.

It's a beast at over 50mm but it wears very well thanks to the curved scalloped case design.
The case is actually very cool and completely different to any of the current line up that I have seen.

The shroud is Ceramic coated steel I believe, so that coupled with the new larger steel case and big size does make it quite a heavy beast, but it does wear great on a bracelet!

Really liking this one so far, and great to see something new from Seiko.

Beautiful watch that one, I've had a few Tuna models and I'll have a few more if they carry on like that!

Sorry to add a negative, but am I the only one getting a bit bored of Seiko using that blue now? I thought that was going to be for the limited edition gear then shelved - they're churning them out like they got a bulk deal on the dye!

Congratulations, I've always loved the chunky aesthetic of these shrouded watches, but with diminutive 6.5'' wrists I think I'm only able to admire from afar :(

The lume on that thing is impressive to say the least, congrats and enjoy!

Lol, I know what you mean. There is a black version of the SE as well.
I do like the blue though!

I love the blue, I think it really suits the dive watches especially, I just think you can have too much of a good thing.
I'm just worried that ten years down the line this little range of spectacular watches will all have merged into one in most peoples minds.

Bloody hell, that's a watch and a half!

What's the purpose of the outer shroud?

Congratulations. Lovely watch. May I ask where you got it from? I've been looking for its black/red brother, the SRP655.

The shroud is to protect the watch when diving, although I think this could take a direct hit and still be just fine!

Ooooh, I like that - and admire the photography as much as the watch. Congrats on both!

Wow. I like that a lot. Sadly both my wrist and watch budget are too unsubstantial.

Thanks! I do like it on the bracelet.
Saying that, I tried it on a Zulu (Black) and it looks and wears very well too!

Any suggestions which colour Zulu would be best for it?
I like a Zulu for a change once in a while!

I like that a lot. Albeit I expect it would look huge on my sub 7" wrist.

How about a blue or yellow Zulu?

What a gorgeous looking watch and superb pictures too, it looks great on either straps.
I'm a sucker for a bit of blue and that's a killer combo! Congratulations.

This blue one is the SRP653. There's a black and red version too, the SRP655.

Kind of like a Monster Tuna. Is the movement a Monster one or a Tuna?

That's what I initially thought, but in fact the case, shroud and crown are all new for this model.

It uses the Seiko 4R36 Auto movement.

I like that Chris. Big but rather stunning in it's design.

The 4R36 is a great movement and this model IMHO is the pick of the crop.

Congrats mate. Wow 50mm that must be a beast - a real beauty imho.

The blue really stands up. Is this limited edition? How many are they in production? Congrats.

Thanks. This model is marked "Special Edition" on the caseback.
It's not an official limited edition piece, but I believe that both these S.E. 50th Anniversary edition models are limited to 500 pieces each.

This looks great! Why do they have to make them so big? The size is keeping from having a Tuna from the moment I first saw them.
