In the brightest sun or the dullest light this dial config shines.

A bit of love for the Longines, which actually keeps extremely accurate time, as good as my Planet Ocean 8500.

Always worth popping into the Slug in Staines for a pint when the sun’s out.

    Sinn 203 Arktis today.

It's been a while since I wore it last.

Bit of an odd one, this. Originally it was a Double Red Sea-Dweller, but a white text Luminova dial was fitted by Rolex in 2004. Makes for an attractive look, I think !

Hmmmm, is it just me or does that dial look as if it has been hand painted? I'm looking at, particularly, the "0"'s and "f" in "2000ft". Or could it be distortions caused by the camera?

Obviously HM, I'm well, aware of your expertise and reputation as a Rolex expert, whereas I know very little, so not looking to cast aspersions or cause offence, just curious and wishing to expand my knowledge.

No offence whatsoever taken. It's a fair observation and one I made when first showing images of the dial to my friend Ed Delgado of DRSD.com, the most widely recognised researcher of these models. "The printing is noticeably crude and blotted when viewed under a 10x,” are the words he quotes from me on his website.

Ed then spotted that this white text luminova service dial appeared otherwise to be the same as the rare Mark VI RED text luminova service dial.

Open two browser windows side by side to see the likeness of text, coronet etc :

    - one of my watch, macro dial images of which may be found about 3/4 down this photo essay : https://www.miltonaires.com/10850/ro...nee-double-red

    - one of the drsd.com page for the Mark VI RED text version, https://drsd.com/watch-info/double-r...d-mark-vi.html

[ Ed does have a separate page for my dial but unfortunately his image hosting seems to be having a wobble and you can see text only ].

Rolex dial printing hasn't always been great when viewed under a 10x. Look at a 1016 Explorer frog's foot dial under magnification :

Thank you very much for your detailed response HM. Much appreciated. I've certainly learned something, which I will file away in my brain for future use. The standard of the printing is certainly much poorer at that magnification than I would have expected from Rolex. Every day is a school day.

    Thanks again

This is an amazingly easy watch to photograph without getting glare on the dial,I suppose its because of the AR?

Its the easiest of any watch ive ever owned in fact.

I took these in the last rays of the Sun last night.

I cannot work out why in some picture the dial looks a very attractive blue yet it is most definitely black.

Perhaps it has some blue in the black not seen by the naked eye?
