Dave, many thanks for the life lesson. I feel humbled by your generosity.

Please count me in with 13 tickets. There's a bit of a story to this - I received the equivalent amount of money for an activity that I intended to deploy pro-bono. I decided hence that it has to be donated for a good cause. This feels like the right occasion.

    All the best,
    Christian

    Hello

In another of your Nepal charity threads you posted this link: www.gofundme.com/cleanupnepaleqfund.

That one is in AUD, whereas their parent organisation www.cleanupnepal.org.np allows for PayPal donations (presumably in GBP and other currencies). Is this site OK, please, of is the other to be preferred?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Bob, I will give very clear and precise instructions for how and where donations are to be made in due course. As I stated in my opening post, I am not asking for any donations to be made just yet, I am currently just collecting pledges. For the purposes of the fundraising drive referred to in this particular thread please follow the specific instructions regarding how donations are to be made which will be made in this thread only.

    Great gesture.

Yes please. £100 from me for two entries.

Will also say now that if I win the watch, I'll sell it to the highest bidder, and give all the money back to the charity.

Is there any reason to limit these donations to 108?

Noble by name, noble by nature.
There is no reason to limit the number of donations to 108, but if people have committed on the basis that there are only 108 places then I think it is only fair and reasonable to follow that. I am surprised by the response tbh, I thought that it would perhaps be a struggle to find so many people willing to donate.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

People are fundamentally good, even if sometimes it's not that obvious :-)

cracking idea, count me in too.

Edit: I think you should keep this going and take more donations, say close it Friday night. It's a good cause after all, and I'm sure no one will mind the fact the number has increased accordingly.

I second the motion. I don't think anybody is seriously targeting the watch. I know I couldn't care less if my odds of winning go down a bit. The more money raised the better, in my humble opinion.

I put my name down in the sure and certain knowledge that I won't win it. I never win anything. So no complaints from me if it goes to a wider audience.

    I agree.

I would guess that most people are taking a spot because the OP's great gesture of donating this watch deserves an appropriate response, not because they have decided that the odds and cost are a favourable punt.

    Keep going

Thanks for all your support everyone. I don't normally like changing horses midstream, but in this case I think it is acceptable. I will leave it open for a while then. Of course, if you have already committed and you don't like these new arrangements, please let me know and I will remove your name from the list. Have a great evening. Thanks , Dave
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I like this idea, and a lovely gesture. Count me in for a space and I'll chuck £50 in the pot. By God they need all the help they can get at the moment in Nepal.
