    Boschett Harpoon

Been after one of these for a while but they rarely come up for sale in this country and they're around the 400 mark from the states as far as I've seen
Saw this one on the bay last week at £195 so snapped it up ... seller said he'd worn it to work for 2 years and it's got a few scratches on etc ....well it turned up today and it's had a pretty hard life in those 2 years!! .......... not sure what he does for a living but it doesn't get done at an office desk

A few pics as it arrived

Gave it a strip down in work today and a good polish and clean ..... the gunk in the bracelet/clasp and under the bezel was a sight to see.
Anyway a few hours later and it's looking good ... took the chipped paint out of the bezel and gave that a grit blast finish .. might paint the digits back in or might leave it, see what happens

It's a beast of a watch with a real presence on the wrist but also very comfortable due to the design of the bracelet (which is a work of art in itself) .... well happy with it for the outlay

All the spec is below for anyone interested

    Lovely transformation.
It is one of the better micro brand watches.
Prefer mine with the black bezel

    Cheers fellas

You know if those black bezels are available to order?? It does look much better

It also came with the ceramic bezel which is also in a pretty poor state

Great to see the before and after pics, must have been a very satisfying job to do. Nice work.

I had one of these a couple of years ago & my story is somewhat similar to yours in that I had been looking one for a long time & ended up buying one from the US. Unfortunately though it was one of those times when I had the watch in hand it just wasn't right for me. You've done a great job in transforming it going by the before & after pics. I would recommend the ceramic bezel if you could get your hands on one. It might be worth a shot contacting Keith at Boschett Timepieces.

Very nice. Always love seeing before and after picks after the work done. Really cool being able to clean up a watch like you just did. That way a beat up watch never scares you away and you are able to get it at a nice price..

Wow what a revival you have done there.

My heart would of sank if I had opened that up.

Looks great cleaned & with the bezel blasted - I'd leave it as i is :)

Superb job on the clean up!! I presume you have some specialist tools to achieve that kind of finish?

Here's my cave dweller which I love! Have been considering adding another boschett to the collection.

Thanks for the comments all ....

To answer the equipment questions, I work in small workshop within a factory and I'm trusted with the refurbishment of surgical instruments so I've got a polishing spindle/belts/wheels, a lathe, a mill and all that kind of stuff .. it's the same processes I use on the instruments more or less ....just not as much fun as doing a watch though :)

The finished article .... decided to reshape the bezel today and paint the digits back in so off to the lathe first after I'd made up some soft jaws to hold the bezel securely and running true. I was going in a little bit blind here so I started with a shallow angle and worked my way down until I was happy with the look of it

And half hour later the bezel is looking a little less aggressive ......

Onto paint next ... I used an epoxy resin that is used on the surgical instruments and is at home in washers and sterilizing auto claves. It's a bit tricky as the digits are not machined particularly deep so care is needed when wiping off the excess

And back on to the watch after letting the paint dry for a few hours ......

    Wow, that is impressive work.

I am always envious of anyone who can do metal work. It is something I have no experience of and wish I did.
