    Aftershave memories

Talking at work today about 'Denim For Men' aftershave made me think about bygone smells.

Used to love Tabac, especially when it started appearing in the pound shops. A female friend advised me it smelt like tramp wee though so i changed to whatever the dragon buys me!

I have gone old school and reverted to Brut. Amazing the amount of people that comment on the nice smell then turn up their nose when they find out what it is.

What was the 80s aftershave that apparently contained pheromones that were irresistible to women ?

  24. #24

Funny that; a prefect at my school applied some aftershave to me when I was in 2nd year. It made me pass out, and left me with a sore arse.

Quorum. A 1970s aftershave but I only discovered it a year ago and I love it. It's cheap as chips as well.

    Blimey

some of these names have conjured up some saturday nights in the 80"s / 90"s
as i walked down the high street leaving a vapour trail behind me of
Jazz , Cacharel , Xerysus , Van cleef & Apres , even Joop

does the metal top of the Kourus bottle still rust if you have it in the back of the bathroom cabinet for 5 years or more !

    Cheers

Yes, interesting I'd say Issey Miyake did attract a disproportionate amount of feedback.

I really don't get this - thankfully I don't have any 'aftershave memories' to haunt me.

    Perfume? ...well that's different.

In rough chronological order once I stopped nicking my Dad's Old Spice and Brut my early ventures into smellies were; Pino Silvestre (until I was informed in a caring sharing way that I smelled like toilet cleaner!), Eau Sauvage, Paco Rabanne, Guerlain Vetiver (which I still buy occasionally)Habit Rouge, Givenchy Gentleman, JP Gaultier Le Male and Jazz.

Nowadays I'm a dedicated wearer of Acqua Di Parma Colonia as a day time fragrance and either AdP Assoluta for normal nights out or AdP Intensa for posh do's and 'romantic' evenings.

    Cheers

Aramis, drakkar noir and kouros, they were the days

  49. #49
I still wear Drakkar Noir! On the rare occasions I slap on some aftershave, that is. Tricky to find these days, I have one unopened bottle in the wardrobe that I managed to score in Verona a couple of years ago..

    Cheers,
