You aren't allowed to do April Fools jokes past midday are you?
Just off the phone with my AD who tells me that from next month all Rolex service prices will be doubled!
Apparently the rationale for this rather bizarre action is that they want to make the cost of ownership higher to try move the brand further upmarket from Omega (he didn't name them but it was clear who was meant) - any shmuck can get a zero percent deal and pay off one over 4 years but it is hoped that this will keep the wannabe crowd out of the brand a bit.
The AD also hinted that Rolex will be strongly "discouraging" zero percent finance deals too - they cannot legally ban this but have made their intentions clear.
I've booked the entire collection in for servicing next week which is a good few grand I had not budgeted for. Not pleased to put it mildly.

Maybe this is an April fools or maybe this is true and is another sign of how crazy the world of expensive watches is.
Rolex St James won't comment on price increase but lady I spoke (who knows me) then said that if service due soon on any of my watches why not to bring them in before end of the month 'as they have spare capacity'..
Just sent 3 off to St, James, they didnt need doing but can't resist a bargain. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm going to wait. The higher prices service is clearly going to of higher quality and represent astonishing value for money.
Coincidentally, in a surprise marketing move I found a Casio DW-5600 as a free gift in a box of Frosties this morning. It comes with a voucher saying they'll pay ME £50 if the battery runs out within 5 years - and throw in a new O ring. They're grrrreeeeeaat!
If you buy the family pack sized Frosties you get a free Grand Seiko and a blow up charming company
I somehow suspect this was timed to coincide with seiko prices for servicing being reduced by 50%
If this is true i will run down the street naked with my Rolex strapped to my c**k...
In line with this, I expect Omega to triple their prices.
Thanks for the heads up, I've just prepaid for a service at the greatly reduced price which should save me a packet when and if I ever get a Rolex.
he said strapped - obviously a NATO fan...
The reason they will discourage the 0% on the watches is because you'll need finance to pay for the service!!!
Both mine are keepers so will use the independents, but I bet they will put their prices up.
