That must be really interesting. To be working on cutting edge design looks great - mostly I'm working on period stuff for old castles:(

Well, I posted that and then saw your Orbe and SME 5 and thought, oh very nice. What cartridge is that? No, never been a fan of Linn, I've got a Roksan Radius 5 but upgraded by Touraj with revised power supply, upgraded belt, Xerxes leads and silver arm wire. Cartridge is a Sumiko BPS. This feeds the following Class AB amps, (I have 6 poweramps, so can run the speakers active if I wish, but they are in passive mode with just one monoblock each in the pic below)

The speakers were designed and built by an ex Wharfedale employee, they are 12" Dynaudio bass units in a transmission line, with a smaller 6" mid and Scanspeak tweeters. Superb bass extension, no sub woofers required!

Very cool. What always boggles my mind about them is just how ancient some of them are. Birth of the solar system stuff. And to hold that in your hand..

Trainers - New Balance British made varieties.
    Bikes - 3 mountain 2 Road
VW - T4 Multivan pop top - quite rare in RHD format only 700 made it to the UK.
I'm currently running out of space!
I also have a BSA bantam trial bike which is in the process of being built!

Fantastic looking speakers and I like the design philosophy. They are certainly unique in design. Since we are slowly turning this into a hifi thread heres a pic of my system. 5 way active speakers do a good job of bass too

I feel dull now after reading this thread because I collect nothing. Things just feel like clutter to me. I'd even say I'd be happy with one watch, pick up and go, no second thoughts. I'm just searching for the perfect one.
I do read a lot of books but I wouldn't say I collected them, especially since Kindle.

I try to concentrate on ltd ones now as I'm running out of space and my wife out of patience! Some of them are really rare and I still buy ones I genuinely like even if they are on general release.

Guys, great systems both, I'm very impressed. Bazza, that Benz sounds very nice I imagine that's a very clean, pacy sounding front end. Nice set up. I like the timing the Roksan brings to my big lazy speakers.

Mondie, never seen those speakers before, but they are monoliths! I think you should get some Krells to power them!

No need, the speakers are active and have 5 channels of amplification totalling 2,000w built in. Krells would have no chance matching that!

Haha! I bet they sound awesome. I also bet your neighbours love you! Main problem I found with mine is finding a big enough room for them to 'breathe' so my next job is doubling the size of the sitting room with an extension to 50m2, then I can power them up fully

edit, that also explains why I couldn't see how they were powered!

Bringing it back to old stuff, I have a fair collection of shellac 78 rpm records - none of this new fangled vinyl - mainly jazz and blues (Jimmy Yancey, Bessie Smith, Humphrey Lyttelton etc.) They sound amazing considering their age.

I've got one of those - the bike not the brochure:

Only about half the bits are unattached now :)

You can see where we're going in the context of this thread...

I'm not really a collector*, but l have a million "man" projects on the go, luckily my wife gets that's how I'm built and as long as it doesn't consume too much money or time it's ok.

*Apart from music, but with only 2000 CDs and maybe 500 LPs that's pretty lightweight no?...

I look forward to seeing it completed.

Lots of happy memories for me personally. I owned a first year (white/red) YPVS 350 when new.

Get to Shea stadium much do you?

Joking aside, why would you need that wattage at home?

I could never turn a 20w guitar amp up full without deafening myself.
    Cheers,

I used to collect Nike trainers and had about 100 pairs. Not displaed nicely like the ones above though.

Flogged them all to buy art (Banksy and street art) I still collect art but have run out of wall space.

Thanks very much. I've probably got about 20 or so pairs I wear regularly, others I wear very rarely and some I've never worn and I probably never will. I used to buy 2 pairs if I really liked them but that just got stupid! So I've now only got single pairs of each. I'm converting another wall in the same room, in the same way to display some others but at the moment they are all stored in the clear Perspex boxes as below. Have you got any favourites?

I seem to have collected rather a lot of original prints in the last few years; Dali, Miro, Picasso, Sutherland and Piper. A couple of Alan Davies, Vasarely, and incoming this week a Henry Moore. I'm pretty sure that watches are a better bet in terms of resale value, but I buy on what I like and enjoy looking at.

    Vices!

Hobbies I have loads ie fishing, shooting etc etc but collecting is down to watches, paintings and classic cars but since we are doing our house up to sell, the watches are nearly all gone!! My Rover P4 which was my last classic went and the only paintings I have left are the ones I bagged cheap at different auctions!! Roll on moving and my collection of watches and cars will start again!! her indoors has even given me the go ahead as long as the new house is just so!!! Next years going to be good for me which is great as last year and this have been pretty rubbish so far for collecting!!

Had a bad guitar habit at one time and was up to 13 electrics, an acoustic and a bass before I managed to overcome it. Got it down to three or four and hadn't bought anything since the '90s, but recently bought a Tele.

Can empathise there. I am on the brink of of buying a Broil King Keg as well (kamado style, but not ceramic). And I have some nice hifi/cinema gear.

Class!......yep always been an Adidas guy, prob only ever worn one pair of nikes, not for me, favs?....prob white micropacers from around 2000-01, had 5 pairs but trashed them all, still got some blue and gold ones unworn in boxes but the white were marvelous :)

Also the thinned soled gazelles which are everywhere now, white Grand slams, tobacco's, various ZX's, loads really....your right about the narrow fit though, generally buy online but the sizing is a pain :(

Currently Swedish art glass including glass lighting fittings and Georgian glass. We moved house a year ago and it became apparent how much stuff (mini collections) I have accumulated. For liquidation soon are unused USA Penn fishing reel collection, various unused knives including prototype Fallkniven F1 in 3g steel, Wilkinson bushcraft, and other micro-collections that don't get much attention anymore. Hoping it will be liberating

I've drifted out of it over the last few years due to lack of spare time, but my other vice was detailing. I'm planning to rectify that over Easter by giving the car a good cleanup.

Best football boot ever imo. Yes the Gary Aspen clip in South America is fantastic, I've recently picked up both his capsule collections as they are pure class. I suppose you either get it or you don't
