    New old git

Hope this is the place to put this. Just joined the forum. I have collected about a dozen watches in the past few years, mainly seiko and have a liking for the 70s versions. Lately though divers are calling to me I did try at one stage to find a birth year watch (did they make wrist watches in 1940 Nearest i came was the one below which is circa 1940s. Anyway looking forward to some learning as time goes by.

Is it a copper dial or has it aged to that colour?

Absolutely no expert here, the dial is even coloured and i dont think its an aging thing, colour in the pic is a pretty fair representation. Just amazes me that a piece of engineering 71yrs old can keep such good time!

    Thanks. Looks like copper.

It is amazing that such an old machine can still operate so well. I have an old cushion case watch that could date anywhere from the 20s to early 40s I think and it still works beautifully.

I did in fact check back as a result of your question, and indeed the the dial is stated as copper.

Welcome to the forum . I really like your Era - I'm on the lookout for one of their Wilhelminas but they're few and far between. How big is your Era?

I make it 36mm, so it is not as small as some of that era(no pun intended)! I have hands like hams, but it sits quite nicely and keep amazing time.
