Up to you mate, depends whether or not you want to look like an ageing European homosexual.
Hi all
Looking for some advice.
I have what I believe is a mid - size Cartier Cougar in S'S with a quartz movement.
Would it be worth having a service and a refurbish.

Damn, just got a JLC GRD.
Looks like I'm on the hunt for a new watch...
I do like it, it's light weight on the wrist and unobtrusive to wear. Was just wondering if a service and refurbishment would freshen it up.
Any recommendations on who to contact for the work.
Is it working at the moment?
A Cartier service is about £280 (from Cartier) and your watch will come back looking like new.
Personally if you like it, then I think its represents good value for money as the watch is worth about £750 -£900.

Thanks, might drop it off at the Bond street store when I'm next in town.
I had a Tank Francaise Chrono serviced by Cartier and they did a superb job, I think it was about £500 from memory though
Just called Cartier and they quote a "complete service" just over £300.
When I had a Santos I found Cartier servicing charges very reasonable, I had a final bill lower than the estimate. Plus there is the added bonus you receive a guarantee and receipt (showing the watch's serial number) which is great for provenance when you want to sell.
Looks like a Cartier service is on the cards...
If only I could get that from the NHS!
What size is that watch? It kind of looks like a ladies watch to me.
33mm...definitely a ladies watch by today's standards...
If it is working I would leave it or perhaps get someone to polish if necessary. 33 mm is rather small and I doubt it is worth as much as the service would cost. I would check out Ebay for value of the particular model. It seems the Panthere and Santos and Tank are the Cartier's that hold there value best.
I always advocate keeping a mechanical watch serviced and maintained, but I`m not at all convinced with quartz movements. I`d keep using it till it either started eating batteries or stopping intermittently. That's a sign that it needs stripping, cleaning and re-oiling. There's nothing that can be done to prolong the life of the circuit, and unless a new circuit was fitted as a matter of course I`d be reluctant to pay money to have the watch serviced.
Refinishing should be straightforward unless the watch has a beadblasted finish.
