Personally I would (but keep the old one for provinence) - and perhaps a full service as well, if you don't know the service history?
Hi all I recently received this rather nice "Pre Bond" I think case ref is DR 396.1041. 1988. My quandary is whether to swap out the heavy worn bezel insert for a OEM replacement?

I would replace the bezel, I'm sure cousins would have one in stock. I would get it pressure checked and relevant gaskets replaced if you are going under water, quartz movement shouldn't be too much of an issue for service.
I have a pre-Bond. My thoughts are, it's one of those watches that doesn't look better with wabi. I had mine brought up to ship-shape and am glad that I did. There are many other watches that I wouldn't dream of doing this to.
