    Worldtimer watch

    Hey guys :)

Recently I feel the need for a new watch and it looks like it is going to be something with 2 or more time zones.. My favourite is the Glycine Airman range where I surely will find what I am looking for but I guess I am always in for some new things :)
What I am looking for is some inspiration in the "world timer" department. The watch shouldnt be too dressy, not bigger than 40mm, date is a must, at least WR100, sapphire or acrylic. Budget 0 to 2000 eur :)

Im looking myself but I bet there are some world timer fans out there who do have a bit more knowledge in this department.

    Thanks,
    Jan

Might be a bit off the wall but the new edifice eqb500 has world time via bluetooth smart phone link in over 300 cities world wide and a second time zone at the 9oclock not bad for £300 and is a really solid piece heres mine.

just to be sure. a worldtimer is a watch that makes it possible to read the time around the globe with help of a 24h ring + a ring with major world cities...

this Alpina is one of the nicest found but way too big and over the budget unfortunately..

    Worldtimer watch

I'm a big fan of the Frederique Constant world timers ... Latest version is a beautiful blue version (pic from the net)

And also the Nomos is very cool

A bit different, but looking good IMO. Fits nicely to your budget and not huge at 43mm. Tissot Heritage Worldtimer.

agreed they are lovely both in its way but they have far from my requirements. both too big, WR is less than 100 and the tissot doesnt have a date :) but i love the spirit, lets see some more :)

+1 here for the Tissot. Lovely piece.

I also have a soft spot for the Baume et Mercier Capeland Worldtimer but it's 44mm and a lot of lettuce (+£5K) for an ETA movement so I find it difficult to contemplate.

What about the Chris Ward Worldtimer - worth a look?

the oris is a GMT watch, not really a world timer

B&M looks lovely but still a dress watch so not really my thing.

the concept of Ch. Ward i dont like that much

I guess I should have looked at your requirements before posting the Tissot. Tried again and this is like looking for duck's nuts.

    Smile

Really like the IWC, in fact IWC are one of my favorite brands come to think of it very classy but well beyond my budget (I do have a Portuguese power reserve homage though in the form of a Parnis, but wont spoil the thread with a pic as its not a world timer

I don't know if there's an accepted definition of "worldtimer", much as there isn't for "GMT", although having a list of cities seems to be a theme (not that Oris's "Worldtimer series has that feature).

That Tissot looks great but I bet it "wears vast". I think Longines and Baume et Mercier make worldtimer-sortalike watches too.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

    https://www.chrono24.com/en/sinn/sin...-id3143330.htm – nearly 50% over budget

What you're after doesn't exist – you're going to have to compromise on style, WR, and/or size, irrespective of price.

In this price range I quite like the Tag Heuer Calibre 7 twin time. Range of dial colours and strap options makes it quite versatile piece that can be dressed up/down as you see fit.

There's a montblanc worldtime that was featured in SIHH this year and looks incredible. It also resembles the one by vacheron.

As others have said, I don't think it's possible to meet all your requirements and budget without going second hand.

In fact I'm not sure you will find any true worldtimers with 200m WR and 40mm or less. The ones that are this sort of size are all dress-type watches with lower WR.
If you can step up to 42mm then you have some options. The Alpina is great and really good value and possibly within budget if you could find one second hand.

Here's the Alpina well within budget, but it's actually 44mm which is a fair bit bigger than your desired size:

Personally I really like this Porsche Design Worldtimer by IWC, it's 40mm but it's only got 50m WR:

The Ball Trainmaster looks good and not too off from my requirements but that one I would need to try on first and see how it performs in real life. And you never know when a 3rd ball might come handy

My favourite is still the Alpina. Extremely cool but I wanted to keep this world timer affair as small and comfy as possible.

I dont mind second hand watches and I dont mind vintage watches as well (provided they can be considered waterproof for an unexpected dip in the pool...)

Edge the budget up a bit, and you could grab a Rolex Explorer II 16570. Second time zone, proper GMT, 100m WR.

Best value sports SS Rolex out there.

Bit large for your specifications - but I thought some 'live' pictures would be fun anyway - so here there are hot off from my dark-room:

It is the largest in my collection (unless I end up with a B50 ha ha)

I have this one too. Nice and simple to operate and relatively inexpensive for those few occasions when I travel nowadays.

I may be the only one who thinks this - but to me the Nomos is a messy dial and although we have 2 standard and lovely Nomos watches in the family, I really dislike the Worldtimer version.

It actually looks great in person, very nicely done and a nice push action, not as large as I was expecting. But it's not a worldtimer. I think the Ball looks great, why F Constant and Alpina made a decent worldtimer and then stuck a massive date function on it is beyond me. IWC looks good in person but didn't capture my imagination.

well I like a good challenge :) but to be honest, I am too picky after many years of flipping watches I only buy what I intend to keep. I live in the country with virtually no reason to dress up so a pure dress watch is of no use to me. BTW, this is the reason why I sold the beautiful B&M Alarm GMT that I got from you. Its one of those I am missing a lot... But with my lifestyle it didnt get much wrist time.

in the end it is a pilots watch so its supposed to be bigger but I think I couldnt pull this one off :) thanks for the live pics mate !

I'd personally go for the Eterna above...

I've got one of these. It's slightly bigger at 42mm but it would come in well under your budget. Specs here: http://www.bodying.co.uk/mido-watche...8#.VPXvguGGN4Z

Probably totally irrelevant and I wouldn't wear one anywhere near water, but you could also go mega-budget with an old Raketa and save up in the meantime for some of the more expensive suggestions on here:

Raketa 24 hour watch. £50-ish on eBay:

    Raketa world time. £40-ish:
