In case any one has missed it, there's an interesting article on hoodwinkee at the moment. Casio has surpassed citizen as the world's number one in watch sales, and the majority of those sales are g shocks. 8.5 million units sold last year. They are like cockroaches after all. When everything else is farked up they will take over the planet.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Well, now they've got Bluetooth they can communicate, and of course they've had sensors for a long time, and a means of deriving energy from the environment - but unless they develop a way of moving about, they'll be more like digital vegetation, which is quite at odds with their go-anywhere, daredevil self-image and can only make for a very unsatisfactory existence ...

You mean only worn by Plant Pots?

Off the wrist photos really don't convey the monstrous proportions of some recent incarnations.

The Krink is amazing for its mirrored display. I had real fun trying to track one down and bought mine new from Germany. It is a great watch.

I will have to do a few pics of all my old school limited G shocks when return to home the end of the week.

Both my Sons are keen on borrowing and keeping my G Shocks. They wear what ever they want to, my youngest has decided my Men in Matt Black Gulfman is his everyday watch, I said just do not loose it, I will never find another one, had a job to get it in the first place from Japan.

Looking forward to seeing them! I do remember the Matt Black Gulfman and not being able to get one!

The other uber old skool G I have is the King G DGK, such a beast and if I'm honest too big for me. Prices of the older G limited editions have held strong which is good at least!

King DGK is a beast. Great watch.

I have a Orange king from Japan, recently picked up a black bezel and strap to stealth it down a bit.

I used to wear it as a work watch, Orange picks up grime easily in my line of work (Engineer), have replacement orange parts to make it mint fresh again.

Prices of limited G Shocks are nut, once they are hard to source.

I used to buy them at list or below as soon as I could, because I am not keen on paying massively over list. I have in the past.

Really only wear my Mudmaster and Frogman now at work.

Interesting number. If I assume average selling price $100 or thereabouts, it results in just below one billion dollars in revenue. I suppose Rolex makes almost 10 times as much?

Is this an actual Giro tie-in? G-central only says "limited edition", and I'm not very familiar with the Frogman range.

For reasons that are quite beyond me I gave in to the sudden impulse to buy another Riseman and an M5600 yesterday

So much for the intended strategy of getting down to one watch by the end of the month...…………...

As best I can ascertain from internet searches the original (and what most consider the best) Riseman was introduced in 2008

More difficult to establish is when production came to an end. Around 2012/13 perhaps? Not sure.

You still see NOS ones pop up on eBay quite regularly albeit at very high prices.

I like the white and red versions too.

It remains the most comfortable watch Ive ever worn. Despite its apparent bulk its very light and you can easily forget your wearing it.

The very first Riseman was the DW9100, introduced in 1997.

The GW9200 was introduced in 2008 and is IMO far nicer, I have 2 myself.

    Thanks for that

For some reason I thought that the 9100 was the more modern version!

Do you know when the 9200 ceased production?

Not sure exactly when production ceased but think you're correct (2012/2013) - production had definitely ceased by 2013. My two: -

Not white, think it’s in ‘Men in Camouflage’ series and beige with green strap.
