I sold my Rangeman and Riseman and now have this less complicated number. I prefer it to the big bulky g's and it still has all the functionality I need for a work beater.

Well it’s been a couple of weeks now and there seems to be an intermittent fault.

The hourly chime seems to work when it wants as does the button tone also the count down timer tone.

Bit peed about it but that’s the gamble I suppose. Everything else works fine.

    Anyone else had this?

    Thanks guys,

    Have a great weekend.

Saw these in a local mall the other day, and tempted to get them for the comedy value alone - Lover's Edition, indeed.

    LOV-16C-7JR

Not had this happen. However, maybe the small spring that touches the inside of the caseback to allow the beeper to function is somehow poorly fitted? I’d carefully take the back off and have a look. As long as you don’t overtighten the screws and make sure the rubber gasket is in place (pretty simple job really) when you reassemble you will be fine.

Owned a few of these before, but this December 2017 watch is a recent arrival.
This is truly my Achilles heel when it comes to watches. Like you and Vinnie, I've had a few and despite having an entirely serviceable one in rotation, I've a brand new one incoming from Japan. Why? Coz you just never know... Except we do. Such is the collecting bug. I suppose I should be grateful the GW5000 is not more expensive.

Yes, we definitely appreciate the finer things in life, and the GW-5000 certainly brings those tiny but cool enhancements Perhaps we need a photo of two together, when the new one arrives
Mine is a December 2017 watch, and I am sure that you can guess where it came from?!

Interesting piece of info, for those that dont know.

The serial number on the back (not present on all G Shocks) can be used to date the watch

    the 201E235G above means:

201E - Factory number where is was made
    235 - 235th day of the year
G - Year it was made

so the above watch was made on the 23rd August 2017

You may have known all that, but im sure some people wont know

Couldn't wear them both so the Gwg1000 went today. I prefer the gulfmaster, what a watch.

A very tough choice having to let one of them go

Thanks, it was and it wasn't. I suppose I didn't need £350 so they could have both stayed. With my old wrist injury i just found the mudmaster strap too hard and uncomfortable. It has that ridge on the inside of the strap that sat just in the wrong place for me. The gulfmaster strap is softer and therefore not an issue. Plus it has the tide indicator which being a man who lives by and loves the water, it's a very useful thing.

ETA - but I think the mudmaster looks better!

I have both, and it would be a VERY tough choosing between them.

More colour in it’s surroundings than the watch itself.
    Classic GW-5000.

I recently found a 5600a that I bought about five years ago, didn't wear and promptly forgot about.

    Looks like this one;

As soon as I put it on I remembered why I stopped wearing it - the strap. It's cheap, uncomfortable and creaks like a barn door in a storm.

So, has anyone any ideas of a strap that would suit it? Was thinking of a green nato, but am open to any suggestions as it'll be nothing more than a beater.
