I bought some strap adaptors from Vario earlier this year, and in the short time it took them to be delivered, sold my last G Shock. Having rectified that recently, I remembered I had the adapters and hence...

Ideal for the hiking season I think.

No problem with the fit, and the 24mm strap (also from Vario) is much more comfortable than the Casio original.

Oh no! I guess if not worn best get rid of it....or you need to change up your outfit to match the watch

Thanks Andrew .. there's one more MM ( release only for the China market ) But right now I'm not so interested in this one as it's not a official Japan release and I got the other red one ... but nicely done - no doubt about. Maybe one day

They certainly are a hefty chunk Bob. I had one early on, and got rid of it due to it's size.
However, a fellow, and very persistent TZer, convinced me to try again, and I am glad that I did.

I'll definitely try one on again and see how it looks. Maybe it just looked exceptionally big as I've been wearing my 5610 which is comparatively small.😕

I have a 5610 too. These 2 are a World apart in size.

    Casio SGW-100

I bought this for walking. It's not really a G-Shock (nor a Protrek). It's surprisingly smaller than I expected, but the display is really clear and proportionally much larger than a G-Shock. It still amazes me what Casio can put into a watch for £50 and with a world timer, thermometer and 200m WR it makes the ideal watch for travel/holidays.

Hi all, My first post here on this thread & hope don't appear too negative initially as of course you are all fans of the G...
I have a stainless steel one with the bars think it's a G-520D-4AV Cockpit. But, I rarely wear it but have started to for some work days where i am now 3 days a week & there is risk of damage to my more fancy autos.
However, I've never really got on with it finding the analogue bit hard to see easily & the digi even worse & far too small & low set to read.
Was my mistake as I chose it but for once didn't research & look into it properly like I normally would but won't get shot of it as was a birthday gift.
So... I still like them & in Paignton last year saw one I liked which caught my eye as was the funky purple model. So have just bought a DW6900 like the red one which was tempted with but gone mad & got the purple one after all & got from gumtree
... its cheap & apparently in excellent condition (the seller tells me).

I ummed & aahhed as could have got one brand new delivered for 50% more of what i gave for it as they are on sale now.
Wanted it for an extra spare work watch & am putting other cash into other things ...hopefully it turns up tomorrow & will post pics of both when I do....

Some G-Shocks are much clearer than others. Black hands against a black dial is always hard to read. However, I have found some negative displays much easier to read than others. You just need a good look around before spending your cash.
Look forward to seeing some photos.

    Thanks for that ....

it was my fault entirely & in hindsight would have bought black rather than stainless anyway but I was pushed for a present & a mate just got same model & liked it & always fancied a G Shock. The hands & digital are a bit of pain to synch i find too (also my reverse button has never really worked well.
I hope this is ok when it arrives but haven't spent much of course & if do get on with it will get the red later as well which i think is same as Guy Martin wears (wonder if he has an Oris now though after his mechanic stint with Williams F1 at Spa.. )
    Just a thought....
Where do people get batteries changed by the way to maintain water resist

I get around this by sticking to Solar models. Forget battery changes!

Any G-Shock fans belong or know of a good of a decent forum dedicated to G Shock's. I've lost interest in most of the posts on this site. It could be called the Rolex fan club!

Did you buy that from a Casio AD? I think that you've got a fake there.

I'm not an expert on fake G-Shocks but this one triggers the fake alert on the following grounds:

    (1) The "WAR 21ST RESIST" text is way wrong.

    (2) This model (there are actually several models with this layout) is very commonly faked, especially the Bape special edition versions.

    (3) The multi-coloured G-Shock text at the top.

    (4) The colour scheme on the round windows.

    (5) The backlit logo on the main display. It doesn't look quite right for a genuine watch.

    (6) The main display layout is wrong (although there are some genuine G-Shocks with this shape that do have a different display layout).

    (7) The odd gap in the word "LUM INESCENCE" on the left hand side.

All of these issues together suggest fake, I think.

What does it have on the back? A picture might be informative.

Appreciate your time Mark, here's a pic of the back. It seems only the white 6900 was a run of 2000 I'm passing town again tomorrow so I'll get my money back.

The day of the week not being squarely below the two smaller circular windows is a giveaway of it being hooky isn't it?

Good idea. Do you mind me asking what sort of place you bought it from? I'm actually surprised to see a fake like this on sale on the UK high street.

Fake confirmed: The movement is definitely a fake. Completely wrong for a G-Shock movement.

Also the case back engraving isn't right. It's lacking in definition. I can't make out the module number in the rectangular box but this is commonly, albeit not always, a tell on fakes of this model (i.e. it's often wrong).

Yes, correct. The two-letter day placement is wrong on this. On the genuine model it will be, as you say, positioned half way between the two small circular windows.

It should be noted that some ostensibly very similar genuine models have a different module that has three-letter days of the week. On these, the three-letter day of the week is positioned differently.

    A definite fake.

Got it this afternoon from cash converters, for £30 I figured not much to gamble if it turned out fake and they refused a refund.

Worst case scenario my two year old can use it to destruction.

    Ah, makes sense. Thanks!

They'd certainly have no grounds to refuse a refund.

I have never been a big fan of negative displays, although through trial and error I have found a few vastly superior to others.
I noticed this morning, on a rather early start at work, how clear the display is in low light.
The first photo the flash automatically went off (to my colleagues bemusement), and then I ensured the flash remained off, to ensure a more accurate capture of how the display actually appears.
