I think the Stop-2-Go is/was rumoured to be unreliable, but not heard much negativity around the others..?
Regrettably the Smiths Big Date is no longer available.
Mondaine produce a number of Swiss Railway Clock inspired watches, but reviews seem to be cautious on the grounds of poor quality control.
Does anyone know of alternative watches designed along the lines of the Swiss Railway Clock?
Thanks in advance.

The PRS27 A & B appear to show as in stock on the web site. Do you know something we don't?
I should have been more specific. It's the simple Swiss Railway clock face that I'm interested in, not the big date per se. If it's not the Swiss Railway face, then a simple face with numbers and a date is what I'd like, hence the interest in the Skagen.
The PRS27 A & B are indeed showing on the web page, but if you place it in the basket, you are told it is no longer available and this has been confirmed to me by Eddie in an e-mail. I've not yet been able to tease out of him the price for a one-off.
It's heartening to hear that there's no perceived issues with the Modaine watches. Perhaps I'll go with one of them after all.
Are you sure the Smiths big date is unavailable?.
I checked, and its showing as in stock
I think the OP is right it is not available, it certainly was not when I wanted to buy one a few months ago. I was lucky to find one on SC
OP, given you are considering the Skagen, I would say you can extend your search to all Bauhaus style watches, not just the railway clock type ones like the Big Date or Mondaine watches

I am a big fan of the style, I still have my Big Date (unbeatable value for money)
I once had a Nomos Orion datum. I ended up selling it as I was not wearing it enough. Probably too dressy for me but a thing of beauty nonetheless
My impression is that quality varies. There are suggestions that some are more cheaply made than others, depending on intended market or route to market.
Some seem to have a chromed brass case whereas others are stainless steel. Personally I'd want to make sure I got a stainless steel model.
I too was interested in the big date.
Eddie also confirmed with me that it is no longer for sale, due to his suppliers increasing the price beyond an acceptable limit.
A very great shame, but nothing he can do.

It might have been providence as during the wait I discovered this watch. Now the top of my list.

I pulled the trigger on a Laco Navy. Fingers crossed it gets here next week. My first wrist watch in probably over 30 years. My last watch (a Valima quartz pocket watch) gave up the ghost about 15 years ago due to too many freeze-thaw cycles (I lived in Canada and walked to work every day). The Laco will be my first mechanical. This might be a slippery slope....
Like the look of the Laco, hope to see some wrist shots when you receive it.
