    Wife's 40th birthday: Suggestions please

Kath is 40 in March, she has decided she wants a weekend away in UK chez moi, stipulations are that the hotel needs to have sea or river views from the room, a log fire and a roll top bath....

i need to to score at least two from three. Any suggestions of a suitable hotel? Cost isn't an issue, Kath's satisfaction is....

A weekend in Bath is often a winner. Can't give a hotel name but a little research should reveal plenty matching your requirements.

Southwold is lovely if you want a nice chill, it's a bit like going back in time for me, if you want something busier and interesting history etc, Without being too over the top, then Bath takes some beating.
Sorry can't remember where we stayed.

The End House B n B in Cambridge. Get the blue room. Utterly wonderful and a 15 minute stroll down the side of the Cam to the centre of town.

Doesn't break the bank either, I paid £110 a couple of weeks ago.

Try having a look at this, I have used it a few times and it is very up market.

It is about 10 minutes off Junction 14 of the M4

Very large rooms including the bathrooms.

I think this is it!! Real fire, huge bath and river view, that's got to rank 2.5/3

Can only re-recommend The Inn at Whitewell, got married there in 97 and go back most years, from 11 overlooks the pool on the river hodder, eating in the br is fantastic, what the first episode (of the first series) of the trip with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydan as its set there. Another alternative is The Samling in the Lakes.....private hot tub overlooking Lake Windermere......
