I admire the craftsmanship, but it's not something I would wear.

Ooooh shiny.
Seriously though, I like that. If I had the money I know I could not resist adding it to my collection. I also know I wouldn't wear it very often but I'd love to own it.

It's a bit of a stinker; not for me in any way.
Liberace called, he wants his watch back :)
I like it. Not Grail but would wear it with pleasure.
I like it and I would wear anything I liked.
Vile.
this is a version of the model 28 with a maki-e dial made by Kitamura Tatsuo who signs his work Unryuan, who created this unique Japanese lacquer dial for Voutilainen. Made with gold dust, gold leaf as well as various types of iridescent shell, the dial took several months to complete.
it is the nicest maki-e watch I know of (and some of the big boys have had a go at this too notably Vacheron.)
No doubting the workmanship of the dial but really on a watch I think Elton might wear it but not for me I'm afraid.
Are Ratners making a comeback then?
Or could have been lifted from an Argos catalogue.
Have to agree with many here. Wouldn't do it for me..
Hmmmm, not for me thanks
Yes I'd say the design is meant for you to think peacock judging by feather swirls and eye hands, however I wouldn't strut around in it even though craftsmanship looks excellent
Need to wear pretty long sleeves with that one
I have a special place in my heart for Voutilainen – being his fellow countryman – and would love to have one of his watches, but that wouldn't be it.
Not for me thanks. Now if it was a Daytona TT it'd be a different story.
Yikes. Truly awful.
Like it.
I like that rather a lot and would wear it as long as it wasn't too big - which it probably is.
I like the indices... Can appreciate the craftsmanship... But no. Not for me either.
If it tickels your fancy, fine. But its not for me.
Although I admire and respect the wordk that went into this watch.
Im sure the craftsmanship is superb.
It would go with some of my Alfie Moon shirts as well.
Design on the dial is lovely...for a pensioners blouse. How much would such a thing cost?
I wouldn't expect much change out of a hundred grand USD
Love the watchmakers other designs but each to his own. It still looks beautifully executed and finished.
without the decoration it would be a lovely watch, but then what would be the point?
would clash with my early 90's versace shirts too!
Great craftsmanship but it is not for me. It does appear to be rather feminine in design IMHO.
Would certainly get noticed...for all the wrong reasons.
Immediately reminded me of those enamelled (on the rear side of the watch head) reversos; would definitely prefer the JLC option with an art nouveau enamelling...which can be hidden away and only looked at when desired.

His Hisui maki-e dialled watch won the Mètiers d'Art prize at GPHG. It's a beautiful thing. I'm not surprised that many people don't "get" mètiers d'art. It's a slightly strange part of horology that often seems at odds with pure watchmaking. But then, so few watches that we own have much to do with watchmaking anymore.
Hehe, I was going to suggest a poll to see people's opinions on this but I think it might be a bit redundant.
The blue, green and gold with a touch of red is irresistible eye (and wrist) candy for me.
Well, it's certainly unique!
That dial is beautiful.
I like watches that unsettle the beige brigade.
Worn along side a nice black shirt I think it would look ok, I'd give it a try.
Great craftsmanship, but a bit too decorative for me.More about art than horology.
