    Tutima watches - your thought?

It is not a brand I am too familiar with but I know that some of you own Tutima pieces and would value your thoughts. I know they are known for their military and flieger watches and I like their coin bezel. I have the opportunity to add one to my collection and their build quality looks good and reasonably priced compared to IWC.

Excellent watches and not often seen out and about. I have 3. TITANIUM NATO chrono, DI300 and a Pacific.

Love their 5100 chronos. Love the new central minutes chrono movement. Hate the prices :(

I love my 5100 powered NATO chrono.
It's one of my top 3 watches
I would love to add a flieger chrono to the collection one day.
IMHO the quality is up there with the speedy pro or Sinn chronos, with the added bonus of never having seen another one in the wild.

Well respected brand especially in Germany.
Your comparison with IWC is a bit steep though.
I would say more like Sinn, Damasko to name a few.

    Extremely high build quality

My Tutima DI300 is superb. The quality is right up there and its titanium case is flawless. I highly recommend Tutima.

+1. I too would put it in the same league as Omega for sheer build quality. And it's a nice bonus that Tutima isn't common in the wild. Who wants to wear a common watch?

I'd echo what was said above, some great watches, some really great watches, but rrp is way high imo.

    The 5100 Bunds are classics.

Everytime I think about them and look into various models, I always wind up (pun intended) back at Sinn.
They are pretty similar in many ways and I like the Sinn innovations.
The integrated pushers are nice though.

    Tutima are great.
I have 2 now, but have owned a couple more as well.
I had a straight Bund-style Lemania 5100 one in steel, then a Ti Commando, both of these went as I wanted a bezelled one.
I now have another of the ZUZ Commandos (see Andy's above) and as of the recent Hamptons sale I also have an FX in steel (631-31). At half price it is the best brand new steel countdown-bezelled German ETA-powered pilots watch I can think of.
I need to take some photos, but it is this one

I know other people think of Sinn, but Tutima were supplying the Luftwaffe in the war, so have "old" heritage.
They also supplied them the Bund chrono from the 80s onwards, so have modern issued heritage.
Neither of which Sinn has, Sinn has never been issued to anything other than small specialist units, "unofficially" - like the ZUZ Tutimas.

So I think they deserve a little more respect than they sometimes get.

    The Commando II (here's mine)

is every bit as capable as the EZM1, in the real world. It is 200m WR rated, and manages this without recourse to Argon, or even a CuSO4 capsule. As rugged with less fancy tech (and less maintenance to do). The hinged pushers are genius.

BUT (and this is a big one) their RRP has been going stratospheric over the last few years. The 5100-yachting chrono on bracelet is > £4k at RRP. And I am not sure I think they are worth all that. The new versions with their own 5100-copying movement are even more again.

Luckily, most used prices have not followed suit.

So do get one, they're great. But don't pay RRP for one

Any of you're experiencing a slow winding a Tutima 5100 movement while wearing. Also, the crown hand winding need extra effort comparing to a Sinn 5100.

Maybe none of Sinn's wristwatches have been issued to the military but they still have some military aviation history:

The Tutima I just have to own some day:

Theit Luftwaffe watch with Urofa 59 caliber. Spectacular watch, superb design. It doesn't get a lot better than this IMO.

Unloved on this forum... and because Tutima couldn't think of anything else except put the prices through the roof... the new prices are simply stupid. Look around for a used classic bund. Again, they're not loved by the masses but a truly great watch.

I've always really liked the Pacific diver. Not to familiar with a lot of their other watches though.

If you are going to go Commando, that's the way to do it.

When I said "which one?" It was because the op said he had a specific one in mind.

Does anyone have the web address for Hamptons? A google search comes up with Ogdens? Is this the new Hamptons?

I recall there was a lot more talk about Tutima back when I joined the forum in 2009. Prices were lower then, too, as I recall.

Thanks for all the comments. I decide to pull the trigger as I have found one at a great price and having a UTC complication seals the deal. The bracelet is very comfortable compared to others I have owned. The only downside is that it is slightly bigger than I like at 43mm.

One of my co-workers has a Tutima, it is a beautiful flieger style GMT with a coin edge rotating bezel. It is rather small, maybe 38mm or so but seems very solidly built and keeps good time. I would like to have one like it. I also like the discontinued FX models with the rotating bezels, really sharp looking watches.

Sadly, all the new pilot style watches they make seem to be 43mm and rather thick, too big for me. A watch at 40 or 41mm and under 12mm thick would be a perfect size for me and a lot of others.

I've been very fond of this for quite some time. Lovely watches and, as has already been pointed out, some bonkers recent price hikes. I have seen a couple on sale in Germany which is unusual for a biggish brand - last Easter I think I saw a Pacific Diver for €800.

I get to Harrogate regularly and don't recognise Hamptons as a watch dealer, I am sure Ogdens are the folks meant . They have quite a nice selection of used pieces, BUT, do know how to charge. However , they do a have a clear out every now and again , last time there were a number of Fortis pieces, B42s and the like at a 50% reduction. I don't think they offer them on line though,

It was Hamptons - I bought one and that is who I rang, spoke to, bought from and got my receipt from.
They were apparently removing the Tutima line from 2 shops, leaving it in only 2 others, so had 2 stores worth of stock to shift at 50-65% off.

This was the relevant post, where I itemised some offered discounts.

ps- A Di300 on bracelet at under £500 Brand new is an attractive proposition.......

    Now I do like that!

If you ever decide to flip it, I'd be interested.
