Thread: Wall mounts for TVs

    Wall mounts for TVs

To save space in the bedroom I'm thinking of fitting a wall mounting bracket for my 32" Sony LCD TV. It has to go on a wall near the corner so a tilt/swivel mount will be required. Having never done this before, is a tilt/swivel mount study enough for a TV (I think my one is about 15kg)? Anything to keep in mind when fitting this?

The other issue is how high up to place it. It's quite a small bedroom and the viewing distance is about 6ft. I guess I can put the tv up quite high and then have it tilting downwards so hopefully I won't be craning my next too much.

Any advice and tips / things to be wary of would be welcome!

    Cheers

There are a range of mounts out there, just make sure the size\weight rating are sturdy enough for your TV. The tilting mounts are very sturdy, I have my 46" TV in the living room on one and it was a cheapie mount. Been up there for over a year with no issues. When you say swivel are you talking about a swing out arm?

Personally, I dont have a TV in the bedroom. That room is there for 2 reasons, sleeping and sexy time!

Put a heavy 32" screen up in my sons room recently, put it up high then realised he sits on his bed with his neck cranked up to watch it, it's not great but the room is small and there are no other options. Take a look at Amazon that's where I got mine loads to choose from and good prices. Most important thing is the wall and fixings.

Yep Gunman - swing out arm and hopefully can tilt it downwards a bit so I can view it without discomfort.

Justin - sounds like my situation. I found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Invision%C2%...vel+tv+bracket

They mention checking the dimensions of the VESA mounting holes and give measurements that the TV is compatible with. I'll have to go round the back of the TV and measure the distance between the holes but I'm hoping it will be compatible.

    We've bought 3 from here (2 last year, 1 this year) : http://www.theplasmacentre.com/

(For 50" plasma as well as 32" Sony LCD )

Never had an issue with them, they tend to be universal brackets & VESA mounting compliant.

I have bought a few brackets from the plasmacentre and highly recommend them, great selection and prices.

I've used this mount for two tv's now (both 42"). No problem with the bracket and fixing (one to wall ,other to the timber baton in stud wall).
Issue you might find is with the tv. The Sony tv we bought last month was not Vesa compliant and so we had to buy an adapter.

    Thanks a lot :)

My Sony is 7 years old and LCD, not LED. I wonder if the VESA compliance is with newer TVs? I can always get the adapter you mentioned though.

Sorry for the dumb question but when you say '...other to the timber baton in stud wall') - what does that mean? I thought the bracket just fixes to one of the two walls that make up that
    corner of the bedroom?

Apologies. I just meant sold brick wall , the other a hollow cavity wall.
