    IWC Pilot Help

    Hey folks,

I'm looking at purchasing an IWC Pilot privately.

Are there any tell tale signs to look for to make sure it's not a fake. Here are some pics:

Given my limited knowledge, I'll probably end up taking it to a jeweller just to make sure but i thought I'd check here first.

Also, does anyone have an idea of what it would be worth. It's in used but good condition, no box/paper.

    Thanks,

    Paul

After a bit of research..... I answered my own question - it's a fake

If you're interested take a look at this post:

Mine has a blue anti glare coating on the glass.

Also, when the watch is on your wrist and you move your hand you should feel the movement on your wrist.....its kind of peculiar to this watch. I may have not described this properly so read about it on forums

I'm no expert but it looks a bit stinky to me and in poor condition to boot.

    EDIT

What is with the numbers on the sub dials

Day and date wheels should be white on black... Other than that, the case, bracelet and everything else are just ever so slightly wrong...

    The quality just isn't there.

It's called 'rotor wobble' and you get it with pretty much all 7750-based movements.

It looks like the OP has answered his own question... but as an owner of the IWC 3717 my initial thoughts are the same. This one is definitely dodgy:
    1. I'm not aware of this particular version (i.e. wrong combo of dial, hands, totally wrong numbering on the sub-dials, etc.)
    2. Date wheels should be black
    3. Crown looks wrong
    4. Crystal (no AR) and looks to be easily marked
    5. Bracelet is completely wrong (both the construction of the links and it shouldn't have a butterfly closure)

That's all just at a glance. I'm sure opening the case would brings screams of terror, too...! ;-)

I hope the OP is on the up and up here... because I'm always a little bit doubtful about the reasons behind posts like this one.

No quite sure what you mean by this? I've been looking at Speedys and PO's but I saw this advertised locally and thought it might be worth a look. As I know nothing about IWCs I thought I would post here for a bit of help.

Isn't knowledge sharing and problem solving one of the best things about forum this forum?
