    MA-1 Jackets

After all the recent talk of expensive leather jackets this is more down to earth :-).....

Quite fancy an MA-1 (or MA-2)...

    Any comments? Good/Bad/Tried one?

    Cheers

They are nice and warm (MA2 warmer), very light and comfy, useless in the wet. A good all round autumn / spring jacket.

Imho Alpha's nylon material is very good. The jacket's I've handled in German stores all appeared to be well-made.
If I were in the market for a classic flight jacket, I would go with this pattern, but obviously just a matter of taste:

Alpha products are readily available in Europe - no need to pay shipping from the US.

I've found them but at 20% more than the shipped price from the US.... Just seemed a bit steep, IMHO ;-)

This lot are local to me & are really good to deal with; IMHO the M65 is a better option?

They used to be good in the 80s when all the media types were wearing them down Old Compton St ( guilty as charged m'lud..) but the quality has gone down tremendously since then.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Becketts are great, always worth a rummage ... if you are ever in Ely, theres also a shitload of old and interesting army surplus on the top floor of the antiques centre near the river, and it doesnt seem like they've updated their prices for a while ..
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I buy most of my clothes from the US, and at this price there's a strong chance you'll attract customs/VAT charges. These are readily available on eBay and start from around £50.
I'd also take a look at Silvermans who offer a number of options:
