    Quartz divers - what's-out-there recommendations?

I've been looking for one and all the models I like seem to have the small disadvantage of being sold out and discontinued . Stuff like the Citizen PMX56-2811. I do like the idea of Ecodrive but I also like the idea of a 10 years battery movement. Probably why I've been wearing my PRS18Q and the Citizen BN0000-04H more than anything else.

So, without going crazy expensive with stuff like the Omega SMP, or crazy big like Tunas and Ecozillas, what might I be missing?

I'm probably getting a bit bored with this watch thing, so that's why quartz... and be ready for me pointing stuff out that I don't like on your suggestions

Let's see if someone can come up with my next, *cough* final *cough* watch...

Believe it or not, but I was actually very impressed with this Seiko, but only on the rubber strap mind you.

    This maybe?

    Or in a better colour?

Have you had a browse on creation's website?

I saw the Seiko linked by Paul (above) in a store the other day, seems very substantial (aka quite large) but very functional

Had that one once and I actually feel tempted to get another one again if nothing else comes up. What I wasn't so keen on the Excalibur were the pointy hands (same with the more common Seiko Solar) and the ratchet clasp is functional but ends up being almost as thick as the watch's head.

CWC diver is a nice watch if you can live without a bracelet.

One for the future - Gerlach Enigma. 100m with a Seiko 1/5th second movement:

Right now, I'd say a Longines Hydroconquest.

With the added bonus that it is available without a date window!

    Nice.

Just bought an Orange faced Solar Seiko from Creation, about £94. Being solar it may last beyond the 10year a battery would. Crown is at 3, not 4:30, which is a bonus.

I can live without the bracelet but I can't live with a NATO or 1p strap... the fixed bars and the price absolutely kill the CWC for me

I would prefer solar as well, especially Ecodrive just because that's what I know. Never had one even going into reserve mode.

This new (?) ti Seiko is nothing to write home about on the looks department but pretty much fits the bill on size, type of movement, etc:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FbA9aKx3AI

Not exactly cheap because I can only find it in Japan (there's a 100% certainty of having to pay tax + duty) but besides that, it's more or less what I'm looking for.

Hi there, you can always try the kinetic range. Ten year battery life, tough as anything and mine has been my daily wearer and on every dive since 2010. The hands on mine were changed to the Velatura hands which I prefer. SKA 369P. Regards Kev.

Bell & Ross Demineur or Hydromax, or the Sinn versions they were based on could fit the bill.

Why can't I find this really rather lovely version anywhere? Is it an old model? If so its much nicer than the current one.

Then I would have gone for the SBCM023. +-20spy I believe, perpetual calendar and a very long battery life.

Have you had a look at the Longines Hydroconquest. I seriously considered one of these before my wife bought me my quartz Omega SMP 300.

SBCM023 is a great watch but sadly like hen's teeth.

A 7548 with a pressure test is an option.

Liking that Gerlach a lot though.

+ 1 for the SBCM023. One of my 2 watch selling regrets.

But they don't exist any more, do they? I remember there was one for sale on SC not long ago but that's it. I'm tending towards the SBDN001, though.

Yes, that would be rather nice too.

Ok, I'll add a watch some of you following the thread might not be aware of... Dugena Sea Tech - there's an auto and a quartz version, 44mm I think:

Something of the PRS18 and the Marathon there IMO

Couldn't agree more - their price belies their build quality, especially in the quartz iterations and more so if you're open to pre owned.

They come in two rather oddball sizes (39 and 41mm), but aside from making sourcing aftermarket straps more difficult it only seems to help to get round that too big / top small dilemma often experienced with standard sized cases.

Oops, noticed you've already ordered a watch - in which case please disregard my previous post.

At least until the finality of your 'final' watch starts to wane - no shame in it, we've all been there!

My favorite quartz is the titanium Dive Master. I believe VSA has discontinued this model, but that doesn't matter, because "gently used" is the best value.

I second the Citizen BN0100-51E. Recently bought one for my college age son, and it fit me so well and so comfortably, I was tempted to keep it for myself (probably would have if I didn't have too many watches already). Simple, highly legible dial and great lume.

    Borrowed pic:
