Don't despair, I live in the Netherlands too; I once received a parcel from Germany that went to New Zealand first. Apparently they misread 'NL' as 'NZ'. All things considered the speed of delivery was amazing, because I think it took a week to arrive. This december on the other hand, a parcel from the UK took 17 days to get here, of which it spent 14 at the Schiphol Airport customs...

That's ridiculous – EMS is normally a 3-5 day service, so Dutch Customs should've had that on the 15th.

Let's hope it's the festive season, god knows how many parcels have to individually taxed before going on to their owners.

But Egypt???, to much spirits must be involved I guess......

Oh, and it could be at the endangered species department, because of the REAL crocodile strap.........:)

    The postman came!!!!!!!!!

But, he got away again, with my watch

He wanted the VAT cash and in the exact amount, I couldn't pay with my card.

He said he could drive by again between three and four, so I could withdraw money.

To end this farce, I went to the cashmachine at two o'clock, the machine was broken, and the postman came far to early and I just could se him drive from my house when I came running to his van............

    Monday????

    Daddel.

So close, so close. Can't wait for the pictures!

Out of curiosity, did they add 21% tax, 4% import duty and some amount for handling? Looking to import something myself and always wonder about the 4% for import duty.

The usual tax scam is adding handling of the import, postage and 4% up and then the 21%.

I don't know what the thresholds are in the Netherlands but it will be rather low, like 30 or 50 Euros, shipping included.

The privatized post means that it is the company's interest to ALWAYS bill you.

    Yes,exactly that.

In the olden days they could make big errors, especially with Seiko, but the last couple of years they are spot on.
