Cool Aegir CD-1 German divers watch

Case made in Germany by Fricker, dial and hands made in Germany, Swiss Soprod A10 movement, and genuine Isofrane strap. The stainless steel bezel has been hardened to prevent scratches. What do you think?

It's really really nice as a watch and I'd be happy to wear it but it's not a diver's watch in any sense I understand it.

I think that's one nice and unusual tool watch...

Like the white dial watch with no bezel a lot although it does have a bit of Raymond Weil W1 about it

There's also a white dial CD-2 with rotating bezel

I like the CD-1, particularly the grey dial version. It looks chunky, robust and at 42mm an ideal size. Not cheap though at just over £900 + anyomport duties.

Just had a Google. The black and vertical grey CD-1s are also extremely nice - love the smooth bezel which gives it more of an explorer/ranger vibe.

Distinctive, but its not something I would buy because it isn't to my taste at all. I'm not fond of the heavy bezel or the design of the dial. To be honest, I suppose it is too young a design for me. (Old fogey alert)

Very utility looking. Not attractive at all.

They are quite distinctive aren't they. I like the heavy look of the bezel, but for some reason I don't think the while dial would work out for me - as Jim W suggests I just find something about it a little untidy. I think it looks smart with a grey dial though. Is it a little textured too, or is that just my eyesight!

I like the look of those...it's nice to see a different take on the usual diver design.

Silver (and white) hands on a white dial...not for me. I quite like the look of the grey dial but what's with "Water Resistance - Rated for 701 meters"?

Thanks...I had to look that one up:

...and I found this, on their website:

"701M was chosen as the water resistance for all of our models, bringing about some awareness to commercial diving in the process and most of all in homage to the insanely heroic chamber dive of Theo Mavrostomos in 1992 breathing hydreliox, which holds the record for the deepest dive. These depths are not commercially viable and such a dive will not be attempted again, unless it sets out to break the record for records sake, nor is any company set up these days with a system capable to try it."

    Yes. That's the one.

It was a really impressive, and informative, series of dives. They lived sub-500msw for over a fortnight, including 9 days below 600 msw and 5 days below 650 msw. All in all, they were on hydrogen for a month.

The grey one, but with a divers bezel would be nice.

I like the name. Ęgir is old Norse for 'sea' and also the god of the seas in Norse mythology.

And here was me thinking that it was because if you were diving at 700 metres you could go 1 deeper.........

Or have I been watching too much Spinal Tap?

+1. It's great to find a dive/tool watch that isn't oversized. 42mm is ideal for this sort of watch.
