    Marmite?

Just tried this on at Madrid airport; can't decide whether I love it.... Or it's way too bling...? (Sorry for crappy phone pictures)

I really like it, the dial is particularly nice and I love the bezel. As far as 'stealthy' watches go I'd put this one right up there.

It's very large, noticeable and has gold bits you mean? :)
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

No not really. I assumed his phone pics were making the whole thing appear brighter than it actually is and that hands will be more matt in real life.

Actually no, the face and bezel were lovely and subtle, but under the shop lights the hands and markers were very 'brash'; hence my dilemma. It may be more discrete in normal light of course.

Shop lights could murder any watch, but I have to say based on the photos only I don't really 'get' this speedy. I presume it's made of something interesting?

While we're on the subject though, one of the best speedies I've seen has to be this white gold one, both a bit bling and rather subtle at the same time: http://www.fratellowatches.com/speed...urce=pulsenews

Yep about as stealthy as a B52 on full thrust!

I love everything about this model apart from the overly bulky strap that effectivley lifts the watch way up off the wrist. And the price is a complete joke!

The way they've used laser to etch layers and detail in to the dial is inovative. I like the contrast of rose gold and titanium.

But then I always seem to like the oddball versions that depreciate.....A lot!

Love the Dark Side, but this one does nothing for me, why make a watch more difficult to read

My thoughts exactly but, then again, some watches don't go for the readability thing... and I'm not even talking about Tokyoflash

Two tone does nothing for me I'm afraid.
Heaven forbid mixing 2T and stealth.

    Marmite?

Broadly I agree. The technology is cool (laser inscribed titanium apparently) and the rarity value is good (it's the first time I've seen it so I assume not all ADs will have it).

However, hard to read, bulky and actually cheap looking strap, and that blingy look to the gold... I think I'll invest my fantasy €5k elsewhere.

Love Marmite. That Speedy....not so much!
That said I'm sure it looks better in the flesh.

Here's another pic from t'interweb. I still think it'll be really nice on a quality leather or two-piece nylon although it's clear I'm in the minority:

    Marmite?

I saw one at Gatwick in the summer at just over £4k.

It's really nice and quite subtle in the flesh (my opinion obviously) but if I were spending that money I'd want a bracelet or at least a decent leather strap and not a NATO.

Looks to be very photo sensitive, I'll hold fire for a definitive opinion until I see one in the metal however it's looking like a no from me.

It looks nice, but nothing can beat Moon watch in Speedy line IMHO.

    I hate losing friends!

Anyway, back to the watch... I do find it odd that Omega choose to put a 4-5k watch on a fabric nato. Maybe they were copying the Tudor BB approach of leather PLUS nato..... but forgot the leather?

I bet you can buy a bracelet for a very (un)reasonable price afterwards. I don't like NATO straps and how they wear but I like the looks and that one looks very nice. Seems like some kevlar type material.

Ditto, I am probably too conservative/boring but that is exactly what I would say. Wouldn't be many different watches for sale if everyone thought that though!

I stand corrected then. Thought it retailed north of £6k.

Gold on titanium - seems confused as to whether it is dress or tool. Moonwatch is on my wishlist

Saw one just now in Berrys and like it a lot, much more matt in real life.

    Eyewatering price though.

    I have one of these

    http://fr.top3watches.com/images//wa...1957-321-4.jpg

    (hope that works)

And I think it is gorgeous, but the watch mentioned does nothing for me at all, looks wrong.

Omega don`t do bicolour watches like they used to do. Even as a fan of two-tone watches this one leaves me cold.

As for 'Marmite', I love the stuff, I can eat it off a spoon!

    Marmite?

Well I picked mine up in Japan for well under 4k and it looks great! Much more matt and understated in real life but it can catch the light nicely. It comes in a bloody big box with a silly little "book" and that's it. I mean the standard box is loaded nowadays but OK so is the most price!

I like the NATO strap but it does lift the watch up by a few mm. Would of been nice to have bracelet or second leather strap but hey this Omega! Any suggestions for strap options greatly appreciated.

It is a limited edition of "only" 1969 which is pretty low for Omega and this is the only one I have ever seen! I thought they had pretty much sold out but clearly not yet!

I wrote a thread on picking this up, can't link via Tapatalk but search under my name for more photos and write up

Here are a couple of quick and dirties I found on my iPhone

Think I would probably need to see and hold it in the flesh, don't think it would appeal to me over the Moonwatch or many of the other iterations though to be honest.

  40. #40
Of course everyone should have an original Moonwatch in their collection.

Plus it is a good job that not everyone likes this version as there are not enough of these to go around!

I like it, just annoyed with the thick casebacks they put on these watches. Really like the dark side of the moon, but sits too high on my wrist, sigh

I forgot to mention that it was incredibly light because of the titanium. Too light, in my opinion. I prefer a certain heft, especially at that price, and this was definitely heftless

So I've decided, it's a no from me. But I love Marmite.

If everyone liked the same watch, the world would be a boring place. Me, personally, I don't like the look of it too much with the textile strap, but the watch itself is nice looking.
