Thread: Champagne sunburst dial

    Champagne sunburst dial

It is difficult to capture the beauty of this 42 year old champagne sunburst dial, but I had a spare hour this afternoon...so I gave it a go. Probably took a few too many!

It is a beautiful watch. Probably the favourite amid my collection...

Beautiful as ever John! Looks almost new and those lugs are mega crisp.

"Probably the favourite amid my collection..." I can understand why...

The only Rolex (other than a 5513) that instantly became a "grail" was a vintage pre-Daytona from 1963 that I was unfortunate enough to spot in Burlington Arcade. I didn't enquire as to the price....yours it gorgeous John. Wear in the very best of health!

Beautiful vintage daytona! Thanks for sharing!
I have always wanted one of these (with a silver bezel though) but size is an issue, and holding them, they feel almost fragile.
But your pics make me almost forget all these issues!!!

One question - is the champagne sunburst colour it's original colour or something, maybe a patina, developed through the years?

    Chye

Very elegant John, it makes the white dialled models look rather sterile.
Reminds me of the dial on my Mk XV Spitfire.
I have no suitable photos though.
