Which Panama Jacks did you get?

A week or so in now and I’m very pleased with them indeed here’s hoping they last as I think they will seem to be extremely well made.

    (Some of) my Winter boots:

2 pairs of made in England DMs and a pair of rub off burgundy Grinders.

I've a couple of pairs of RM Williams too.

(Hoping this works - first test using Imgur).

    Cheers,

  9. #509
Just the standard 78 boot with commando sole.
No, never had a Clio, did have a 1.1 R5 campus 5door as a student:)

I'm liking the look of these but unsure as to which colour to get. I think the darker brown nappa grass would be more versatile than the lighter bark nappa grass

    https://www.panamajackshop.com/uk/en...ear/barkley-c3

Scratch that, just noticed they have a zip on the inside of the boot. Back to the drawing board.

I have two pairs. I’m a size 8.5 in Timberlands (although a size 8 in other makes, even a 7 in some) and the Aviators I bought were size 9 and the Glasgow’s were size 8

Wow :) I am none the wiser I suppose I would be better off finding a retailer near me but I suspect there aren't many and probably won't have the selection.

Bang on true to size for me with the Amur goretex boots I’m a size 9 bought a size 9 and they’re spot on, as posted also bought through amazon for the ease of returns if they didn’t fit. They’ve been getting worn a lot the past few days and they’ve become firm favourites for me having a timberland look to them but being warmer and a lovely colour seemingly better built too.

Are they Cheaney Tiger Moths? For a max of £200...I’d have your arm off!

I've started wearing my Paraboot high black boots this season, they are superb and comfy, but there's one issue, and maybe someone has a solution.........

The tongues keep slipping to one side, and I have to correct that a few times a day, very annoying!

    Anyone a solution?
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

I have a pair or barkers that do the same. Most annoying. If I was designing the boot I’d have stitched the tongue to the boot partially up one side to keep it in place. But difficult to do as a retrofit modification.

Keen to see if anyone has a solution also

It’s not difficult to fix. Any competent cobbler will stitch one side of the tongue to the vamp and it will not be expensive. I’ve had this done to a pair of Alden’s with a similar issue.

I had a pair of boots were the tongue slid I cut 2 small slits in the tongue and threaded the laces through and that fixed it

punch a hole in one side of the tongue thread the lace through, make the hole to one side so it's covered up when the boots laced up.

Wow, a bit drastic with a pair of expensive shoes, but maybe my cobbler can sort it...........:)

Alternatively a cobbler could stitch a leather loop (as often found on trainers) for lace to go through.

Damn thread making me want to spend - those Panama Jacks look good, I went to have a look in a store yesterday - especially like the glasgow igloo. I've been looking for a pair of black boots and could be one for me.

For those interested, I have a few pairs of shoes from Grieve (Dutch brand) and their boots are fantastic!

I ordered 4 pairs of boots from John Lewis various brands, and 4 pairs of Panama Jacks from Amazon of various styles to see what worked. I've kept exactly the 2 you link above and returned everything else. Lovely boots.

    Damn this place!!

Just had some Panama Jack Glasgow boots delivered, and they are superb.

Had some Barbour Belsay delivered with a view to keeping one or the other, and the Panama Jacks knock them into a cocked hat.

I actually prefer the Glasgow’s but got the Aviators at a bargain price of £113. Love both but just think the Glasgow Igloo have a bit more quality about them.

I normally take 10.5 or 11's in most, PJ's are a good fit in 11.

New arrival today, a pair of Clark's Wallabee boots. No good for winter surely? Suede with crepe soles they must get wet and slippery as hell. But these ones have a Vibram sole and a Gore-tex membrane so should be comfy, warm, dry and non slippery. I wore them out today and can vouch for the first two.

https://www.clarks.co.uk/c/Wallabee-...%AE/p/26128500 though I managed to find my size on Amazon significantly cheaper.

Here's a picture from Clark's website, the Vibram sole is not as light coloured in real life as it looks in this picture.
