Glad my instinct to pay another £10 for the J was correct then :)

It is a big old lump of metal - I like the bracelet but it may go on leather as its main use will be when I go to our flat in Menorca and it'll be nice to have something breathable. I do also have an Omega mesh... hmm...

2 New incomings this week for me

Birthday a few weeks ago, finally managed to catch up with my dad (who's birthday it was also) he bought me this nice looking G Shock

GA400 seems to have some bluetooth music sync with my phone but actually an ideal gym & DIY watch, which will replace the Seiko Arnie I have.

But also a belated work promotion, getting on the property ladder & birthday gift to myself. A grail to me and I finally got myself Panerai.

After many years wanting one, I stoked to finally have a 560.

Apologies for the quick and dirty iPhone pic, will try and do a SOTC later.

It was going to take something pretty special to get the Breitling Blackbird off my wrist.
This new arrival has achieved just that.....

Never been rent a fan of Panerai, but this one looks superb.

My personal favourite in the present Omega line up.

    Congratulations to both of you

The Seiko Spirit that Wooster surprised me with now has a battery and has had an embarrassing number of links removed from its bracelet and is now perfectly fitted to my wrist

This arrived this morning. It looks great on the bracelet, but will probably spend a lot of it's time on a NATO.

For the weekend though, I've stuck on a Bulang, which I think suits it immensely.

Recently managed to find a Grand Seiko sbgw 035; a manual wind, Japan domestic design, with an action like butter. The sheer simplicity of the watch somehow achieves a lot.

    Testing first Imgur photo post.

A Maison Celadon Imperial. New to me and recieved this week. This is from the first series and one of 39 that got the gold balance and escape cock hand engraved.
A link if anyone would like to know more about it and see the specifics. http://www.maisonceladon.com/the-imperial.html
I also have a link about the equipment and the hand engraving of it, but it is to another forum and I'm not sure if this forum allows links to other forums.

It is so comfortable on the wrist, it wears like a nice vintage.

It's good to see one of these again. I was a regular on the WUS Chinese subforum when these were being developed. The guy behind them really cares about details - eg not just heat blued hands, but heat blued logo to match. The case and the very handsome manual movement are the same as on the Beijing BeiHai, but the level of quality control is much higher on these - iirc he paid for an extra layer from Beijing themselves about their standard procedure, and then did his own QC. Also isn't there additional engraving on the movement? He was also very proud of the packaging and straps etc. The pricing was rather opaque - there was a notional MRSP which was very high and never paid by anyone. I can't remember how much the options you've got added to the price, but I think the starting point was $900. The reception they got on WUS was almost uniformly ecstatic - are you feeling similar enthusiasm for it? :)

I don't know about ecstatic, but I'm very pleased with it. Everything about it is attention to detail, the quality put into it is superb and I don't say that much. If something happened to it, I would actively look for another to replace it.
I wasn't as impressed with the packaging, it was adequate though. I don't know what the original purchaser got in the way of options, but i got it with a blue and brown strap. Very little wear on one and the other appears unworn.
People may think that for a Chinese watch that these are too high, but after having it in my hands I think the price is pretty decent. I think new it is around $1,050.00, being used mine was cheaper, but they seem to have a decent resale value.

Been hankering after one of these for a while. I anticipate a lot of strap changes - although this Eulit is perfect for the time being.

Are you at it again. Which Apollo XI - the 35th anniversary panda I hope.

That will go quick on SC

Hesitated hesitated and hesitated. Then I didn't. Good move. It's superb. This is not an homage it's very much it's own watch. Quality and finishing is imo unique and the crown the dial the applied markers the hands the bezel the hands the bracelet the case and unseen the movement - I could go on

Now that's a beautiful watch. Of course I'm prejudiced, I have a "red" faced SBGV027, "just" a quartz, unlike yours (and I'd love the GMT function) , but the face does constantly change with the lighting, even the angle you're wearing it at. Enjoy your GS, these are great and, to some, under appreciated watches.

Thanks! The gold flecks are amazing. Seiko dials are delightful. Not seen yours in the flesh, but generally these not textured sunburst dials play with the light just as well.

    Thanks Andrew,

Must say the pic makes it look bigger on my wrist than it actual is. Apart from the gym & football it hasn't been off my wrist, still smitten with it,

Gorgeous watch, I find GS dials are really difficult to capture in pics and their stock photos are often quite terrible!

  45. #3095
Not really had much experience of the brand before, but this was too much of a bargain to resist:

Absolutely lovely, looks and feels quality. No idea about the movement inside but I guess it's something off the shelf. Anyway, great for wearing to work, very happy for what I paid for it.

This has recently arrived, and I'm really pleased with it, having looked for a while. Thanks to @Carlton-Browne and @Wibbs for the advice along the way (although if I've bought a dud it's all down to me :) ). I'm going to take some time now finding a decent strap.

Now this is what I call armoured glass:

Well done - bloody good effort! If you want advice on straps drop me a PM; the fixed lugs really do narrow down your options.

Thanks, I was planning to :). The hands look a bit better than the picture shows, but the dial and the crystal really are spot on, and the case is in very good condition (but not Ukrainian), apart from one of the lugs being slightly bent. The dealer/enthusiast I got it from claims to have had it for 20 years and now I have it in my hands I can believe that. The crown is newish but I think it looks pretty much OK.

Thanks again for the education. I'll bring it along next GTG.
