Been after one of these for ages. Arrived this morning and I am very pleased. The plexi wears lighter than my 422 with a crystal and I like the 1940 case very much.

Is 47mm. Feels more compact due to no crown guard on 1940 case.

That surprises me, it looks smaller in the pic . I reckoned more like a 44mm. Would love to see some comparison shots to a Radiomir if you can.

Liking the red highlights on that racing strap - integrates perfectly with the second and chrono hands on the Monaco.

A pick up from one of the blokes who are making mods and selling on eBay. This one really did appeal : SEIKO SNKE01K1 Polar Explorer mod.
I had intended to whip it straight onto a perlon, but overlooked that this model has an integrated bracelet… not many 10mm nylons about! But now it is sized, it fits very well and is comfortable. Very good quality over all and a lovely size – I really like sports hands in smaller case watches!

I LOVE this model with the mod applied!! Did you do it or picked it up already converted?

Like I say in my post above, I love smaller cased watches with sports hands. This is how this Rolex should look as a standard!

Just place my pre-order for the GMWB5000 - I think I may have to fight off #1 son on this one.

“Mod”? Isn’t this a standard 14270 with blue dial?

Nope... they are Explorer handset, on a blue oyster perpetual 36mm. All standard oysters only come with baton hands.

Bought completely on a whim. Dunno whether I like it yet so might be a catch and release type thing. Fairly typically poor alignment but doesn't bother me too much

Received this from Gomers today. Very different from the other watches I've had, and I like it... A lot.

Excited to see it on the bracelet when I get home from work!

Currently tracking DHL for an incoming from a top TZer in Romania. Hoping it will look something like this (apologies for LTF's stolen photo). Might just make it before the end of the Friday thread :)

Snap on all counts, also from our Romanian friend! First new arrival tomorrow for me in quite some time.

If you ever decide to sell that one, give me first refusal!

AP RO Chrono, picked up from a WTB and a nice easy face to face with Oliver last weekend. It's been on the wrist all week and dare I say it, it's a keeper:

This arrived yesterday. A real curiosity, I’ll probably start a thread with some more details as I’d love to find out a bit more about it.

I’ve seen various watches with offset disks (pretty sure omega chronostop was one) but should orientation not be the other way round? Ie with crown at the top at 12?

Yes, I think that is more usual. Also many driving watches have their dials at 45 degrees not 90, although some are 90.

As a driving watch you’d have to wear that Helvetia on the right wrist or dial is upside down...
