Miyota 9075 “True GMT” watches - Now there’s a Timex!

I’ve got a bit of thing for GMTs, but only “true” or “traveller” GMTs, I’ve absolutely no interest in desk GMTs. Each to their own, I know there are good use cases for them, but I have no desire to own one.

Trouble is, True GMTs have been pretty rare and pretty expensive until recently, with Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Longines and others keeping it a fairly high-end choice.

Until the Miyota 9075 came along last year. They’ve kept it fairly restricted so far with a relatively short list of brands available.

    Lorier:

    And others…

Well now Timex have got in on the action with what is a pretty handsome and original piece IMO. Pretty keenly priced compared to the others too at £599 with no import duty or VAT to pay.

It’s not really my style, but I do like the titanium, and it’s nice to see Timex doing something a bit more original than most of the others. I hope it does well for them.

Sort of - there is a true GMT in the Swatch brands sold under various names at not much more than the timex - one example:

Ah, I didn’t know that - thanks for educating me!

Do you know what the name of the movement is? It’s frustrating that so many manufacturers don’t specify which kind of GMT their watch is.

Seems to be a variation of the Powermatic 80 but specific number I'm not sure.

Looks ok, what’s 200m water resistance again, washing up? Showering? Swimming? Snorkelling? I can never remember.

    Who is James Brand?

Looks quite a decent buy for a titanium automatic watch with GMT function and 200m WR.
