It won't be to many people's taste on here I expect but I couldn't resist this in Berry's in Leeds on Saturday.

This will bring the tone down from the lovely watches previously posted...

    Anyway,

So using a San Martin dial and hands, a Seiko NH, an Alpha explorer bracelet and a Riyi case.

I assembled my own 6538 homage!

Still to do is something with that bezel pip! Also to swap the movement to a NH38 for the no date (+ the watch that's loaning the incumbent movement needs it back!)

But never having done anything like this before I was quite pleased with myself... (it passed a 5 bar pressure test too!)

The Incoming / New Arrival Thread

New arrival today which is a little special.

There are only 194 in existence so a very rare watch indeed.

Its correct name is the Omega Seamaster Olympia Ref NO: 2842.21

Omega has often been associated with the timing for the Olympics but in the Winter Olympics of 1994 in Lillehammer, Omega was not given this contract, but it was given to Seiko.

Not to be outdone, Omega became an official equipment provider for the Swiss Olympic Team and provided watches specifically designed for the games. In fact to showcase the brand, different versions were produced, one an Automatic Chronometer version in both mid size and full size in stainless steel ( Caliber number: 1109) and my one, the Quartz version in both sizes and stainless steel too ( Calibre number 1438), mine being the full size. ...There was also a solid gold version of the automatic chronometer caliber.

Production numbers for the solid gold version was a total of 49 whilst the Chronometer versions were limited to 194 each. Now when we consider the normal sort of production runs of Limited Editions by Omega, we can see at only 194 of each standard version, this Olympia is truly “Rare”.

As to this quartz version itself, this is the same six jewelled 1438 version that is seen in the pre-'Bond' Seamasters but placed in the full sized case of the 'Bond' automatic Seamaster

Just collected. Been after a white dial watch for quite sometime and this ticks a lot of boxes.

    That really is special!
I've not seen one before and didn't know the story either.
You'll never see another will you?!
Enjoy and thanks for showing - for a watch of that age it looks immaculate with lovely slightly-aged lume plots!

It's like buses! Another white dial. This Breitling used to be a forum darling back in the day when I first joined, along with the likes of the IWC 3536. Over the years, I always kept an eye open for a white dial version as they were few and far between. Arrived this morning and I am happy.

New to me, arrived this afternoon.
My first automatic Omega. This was the result of my recent cull, and I couldn’t be happier.

First watch I've had with quick release spring bars....why is this not standard on all straps!!?

Will size the bracelet later but loving this strap, not sure if I'll wear it too often on the bracelet

    I do like these.
How do they wear? They look like they may look big on a sub 7" wrist.

That really played with my head, I initially thought it was a paper cut out of a watch or some kind of AI generated image.

    Love it.

Received in a trade this week. The mesh bracelet is really comfortable, and helps reduce the overall heft a bit.
I think this one is probably right at the top end of my size limit though.. I maybe just about pull it off.

They are £115 each with 15% discount code and I did just sell a £3k Seiko so I think that's fair enough

Where did you manage to find them for that price? Best I could see was £148.50 with 10% discount code.

Cheers, something a bit different to my sports watches.

I feel the Blancpain Villeret are still under the radar at pre-owned prices for the quality.

Wears really well, I've been wearing it on the bracelet for the last week, and with the two different link sizes in the bracelet they can be sized for the right fit for oneself.

In terms of size on wrist, I'm acutely sensitive to this as I have fairly slim wrists (6" 3/8 or 16cm) and also from personal taste about not liking a watch looking too big for a wrist.
But even on my svelte wrist I'm the one wearing it rather than the other way round.
The first "fixed" end link slopes down and also has a few degrees of movement so hugs the wrist nicely too.

It's probably clear by now but I'm stoked with it ☺️

A new tool watch for work, Marathon JSAR 46MM.
I've put it on a very chunky 5.5mm thick stainless steel strap, it suits it quite well.

These wear much better than the size would indicate. I love mine so much I bought the chronograph version

Definitely, I was quite surprised at how comfortable it is on the wrist, wears more like a 44mm.

Cheers Ryan… ordered 1 of each also. Mrs G fancied the white one for our holiday in November so thought I’d try the black one while ordering.
