One of the members on boards.ie had a suede strap made to order by a Chilean lady - Martu straps. Prices look to be very reasonable.

I believe that it's the Glycine chrono on the selfies page. I haven't got around to it yet but i plan to.

Prices seem quite keen... I've fired off an email. So, we'll wait and see...

    Thanks for the response...

The Martu Leather straps do look good and at a great price. For a more 'traditional' design strap in suede I found a German seller on ebay 'Sandtuhr' had a good range of straps including suede, except they are sold as 'velour' which is apparently German for suede, but of course velour has a completely different meaning in English. I bought a Horween Cordovan strap in black and a 'velour' one in dunkelbraun and am very happy with both.

I'm in the process of bespoking a strap - it's taking a little longer as I want a non-standardish colour.

Thanks for that - some good deals on Rios 1931 alligators, I thought.

Freshly delivered from Chile... Completely bespoke and very good quality... Delightful to deal with and @ £22 a stonking bargain!

Thanks again for the heads up!

Excellent - mine is also on it's way. How long did it take to get to the UK, as a matter of interest?

Looks great on the Pleamar, think I might try one on a Seagull 63.Do you have another picture of the underside showing stitching and buckle?
    Thanks.

I think she's one of those female chaps. Funny chaps, women.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Yes... Bizarre that... I had simply assumed she was a he when chatting to her specifying my order... It was only whilst chatting to BarryW over PM, that I worked out she was a lady... there was even a pic of her on her website swinging around on a swingy thing!

a slight bump to this thread - another positive vote for Martu Straps - the appended took slightly under two weeks to arrive, and is
    one of the vintage/slim straps:

the included buckle I would probably exclude next time, but the fit/finish is very good and has a
nice vintage patina with no effort - thanks again to C-B for the pointer earlier in the
    thread; I'd cheerfully have another..

Wanting an open-end strap for my Bertucci military style beater to replace the original which was apparently intended for wearing round the leg, I decided to have a go myself. I dug out an old luggage strap and set about my first strap, only to discover that the leather was an inferior grade faced with a plastic stick-on "real leather grain" fabric. So I turned the material around and ended up with this:

The problem with the Bertucci is a/ 25mm fixed bars, and b/ the design of the case means that if on a nato (if I could find a 25mm nato!) the case would hover above the strap like a satellite.

Encouraged by my fledgling efforts, I am now seeking some suitable leather for another attempt at an open-end strap, this time for my CWC G10.
    Practice makes perfect I hope.
