Where best to buy a 1964 Seiko (or Omega)?

It's my other half's birthday in December - the big 5-0! The big present (from us to us) is a big trip she's always wanted to go on.

But I'd like to buy her something to open on the day, and thought a watch from her date of birth would be nice, maybe an Omega Geneve or a Seiko. Probably a gents watch because ladies watches from that era are tiny and she's a lovely large tall lovely lady (just how I like 'em!)

I've put a WTB on here of course, but wondering if anyone can suggest any good and reputable sources for decent watches of that era at sensible prices?

Thanks in advance for any good pointers.

As far as Seiko is concerned, probably the best choice will be on Ebay (assuming you are not prepared to dabble with Yahoo Japan) but there would be a very good chance you'd then need to spend money (or end up with a clunker). Most of the UK Ebay sellers specialising in so-called restored vintage Seiko's are just hawking recycled Philippines junk. The SCWF sales corner is a possibility but choice will be slim if you are looking for a particular year and in my experience it is no safer a place to buy than Ebay. Your best bet is to do what you've done already, and post a WTB here, hopefully then netting something which has already been serviced and good to go.

It's even the right month. No idea whether the price is right though. Duncan may have his eye in better with 5717's.
